Don't get me wrong. This is enough time to save things and shut down properly or to hit hibernate and wait for it to hibernate the system. But the battery will wear down over time and capacity will drop fairly quickly. Also, I'm not so sure this would handle as well on other systems. It's not uncommon for an ordinary system to use at least twice the power mine uses with many as much as three times. That would probably result in at most half the actual run time, maybe even less allowing for conversion inefficiencies. This could get tricky for some cases. Especially any using any more power still. It may not be enough for some computers even to have time to hibernate.
The biggest problem is these are still using sealed lead acid batteries -- one of the oldest types of batteries there are. While nickle-metal hydride wouldn't be so great, lithium ion could definitely handle this much much better. SLA batteries are ancient tech and can wear out pretty easily and quickly. Especially if it's not recharged almost immediately after use. Some now use lithium ion, but they are still prohibitively expensive and I'm not convinced they should be. Still, whether this is correct or not, this is the result. At least it gives one enough time to shut down in a big hurry in a pinch though, which you obviously can't do without it.
The placement of my modem and router was also the issue. It is in the living room sitting on a decorative half-table. I have also purchased a power strip cover/box that you put your power strip inside so it doesn't look like a jumble mess of cables. This UPS fits in it! Now I am able to keep my devices powered for a bit when there's a power outage. I even had a blip recently and it held through. You just hear the clicking sound of it switching to battery and back to normal. I recommend this if all you need to power is a TV and one device.
