All in all, buy a different unit without so many design flaws.
Overall it works as described, and from the description it provides some slight surge protection which is never a bad thing.
IMPORTANT: Double check that the outlet your using it the type with 2 separate plug outlets and has a screw in the middle (the one holding the outlet cover in place) I, for some reason, assumed all outlets were like this and turns out mine was not. Some newer outlets are a different, more modern, style, and they don't have the screw whole in the middle. This isn't a deal breaker, because you can unscrew the screw from the unit easily and then it will fit, but it's not as nice because technically it's not as grounded as it should be (which the screw does) so it might make it less surge protected. If this is a deal breaker use it in another outlet that has the middle screw or purchase a different style outlet surge protecter tap.
Seems to be okay other than that.
- Outlets are reasonably spaced
- Relatively trim design
- Price/value - especially compared to "UBS only" wall outlets
- Machine screw does not secure to any of the outlets I have tried this with, which have been several
- Fewer outlets than some competitors
While I am generally satisfied with the product, I would recommend APC's 6 outlet in most cases. The machine screw fits most outlets, and the 6 side outlets are spaced such that they allow considerable flexability in terms of power blocks - even worst case spacing on that device allows more devices than this. The only real negative I have with the APC is that it sits away from the wall a bit further than I had anticipate donce screwed into place.
