I was looking at building a gaming PC using Intel i7 or i5 and I couldn't build it for under 1300 dollars. When I saw this deal, I had to jump on it.
One drawback - limited ability to over clock CPU due to the Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H Motherboard and BIOS which does not posses a means to tweak v-core voltage. One can overclock using the multiplier in Turbo Boost for each core. So far I'm running stable at 4.3 Ghz and the liquid cooling system is keeping the CPU below the mid 70s when loaded with either WPrime95, Aida64Extreme, or Cinebench.
I'm very pleased with this machine. It does everything quickly and smoothly. I could not have built a machine like this and purchased an operating system for the $950 I paid on Amazon.
Many of the others i would have had to upgrade power supply and the video card to get what I wanted.
This is my first liquid cooled computer and wanted to upgrade since my old PC had a very loud CPU fan and while there is still a little noise its very slight.
Only upgrade i made was a solid state drive and installed windows 7 with no problems. (windows 7 not included but it does have all the driver CD's)
Very easy to over clock there is software that makes it super easy and it runs great and cool
So fast does everything quick and responsive
The what ever:
I like the keyboards feel but has a messed up "Enter" size key
They run all the power cables behind the motherboard so adding stuff you have to take off both side panels
USB 3.0 only in the back
I would have like to see 16 GB of ram for the price
I don't like windows 8 on PC's
So for a gaming computer this works great and would recommend this computer over some of the slightly cheaper ones that would need upgraded out of the box. With the SSD i get a 7.4 widows experience rating.
1. led light just dangling in pc
2. one of the additional fans was hanging off from the inside of case and
neither fans were attached to power. In order for them to reach connectors
on mainboard I had to move them so cords could reach.
3. pci sound card had no power cord from the power supply
3a. sound card had device manager error.
4. broken plastic piece of unknown origin was in the bottom of the case
5. no hardware was enclosed to secure legs to bottom of tower
6. 3 calls to tech support, 2 were really nice , one was extremely
rude...wouldn’t let me finish statements. I have a bad stuttering problem.
7. 4 hours later my pc still would not post, and has FF error on mainboard
8. no power to one of the front top panels.
9. obviously this pc was not quality control checked!
10. do not repair it, with all these issues I do not want to chance it.
I did contact the BBB and they are handling this now. What a poor way to conduct business. Junk computer, and terrible customer service.
I guess I am going to look for another PC manufacturer, its a shame!
