Bring Color to Your Life
You already love the Internet. Love your router too. The AC750 Wi-Fi Router comes in four different colors and is powerful enough to let you surf the web, play games, and stream HD movies - all at the same time.
Further Range and a Stronger Signal
The DIR-818LW/D creates a wireless signal that reaches farther than Wireless N routers. Eliminate wireless dead zones and experience whole-home coverage with the Wi-Fi AC750 Router.
Guest Wi-Fi Network
Controlling your network by enabling parental controls, blocking unwanted devices, monitoring internet activity and creating Wi-Fi guest networks is easier than ever with our new interface.
Do More with Dual Band Technology
Use the 2.4 GHz band for everyday tasks, while leaving the high-speed 5 GHz AC band free for HD video streaming, online gaming and large file transfers. With fewer devices using the high-speed 5 GHz band, there’s less interference and congestion, giving you better performance and a lag-free wireless experience.
Gigabit Ethernet delivers wired performance that is 10x faster than traditional Fast Ethernet.
Bring Color to you Life
Choose from 4 colors: Teal, White, Red and Black.
Quick Router Setup (QRS) App
QRS mobile app allows for easy push-button setup. It's hassle-free and gets you online fast.

I decided to get this router as it was within the budget and had all the specs I wanted.
My dad received it and I asked him to set it up himself. Just FYI, he's over 65 and isn't very tech savvy. I was a little hesitant to have him do this but just had him try regardless. With facetime setup, we walked over the the instructions briefly. Connecting the router was simple enough. Now to the difficult part ( I assumed). I asked my dad to open up the web browser and we went through instructions step by setup. I swear it took less than 10 minutes for him to get it up and running.
Just before setup of the Dir-818LW, we had to turn off the wifi on the Verizon modem. Now that was the difficult part walking my dad through!
I was there a few days later to make sure he did everything correctly...and he did! Even the security setup.
Here are a few things my dad and I loved about the router:
1. The color matched the paint.
2. The range on this router is great. He's got a big house and yard and we were able to get excellent signal from different locations in and out of the house.
3. Setup was easy.
4. No more disconnects when compared to the Verizon modem.
5. Amazing speed. (My dad streams a lot on his TV and now not hang ups!)
Overall, this is a great product for the price and performance.
It does feel cheap to the touch, like a hollow plastic cylinder. Don't get me wrong, it's still worth the money for a Gigabit router. You still get a USB 3.0 port to attach a storage device which you can share with anyone on your network. Dlink also gives you their Cloud storage service for free. I don't remember how much storage since I am not using it for now. You can also manage your router with an app downloaded to your phone or tablet. All the ports - ethernet LAN and WAN - are Gigabit (1000 Mbps) ports. It has 802.11ac as well besides the standard a/b/g/n. 2 bands - 2.4 and 5 Ghz. I have 2 phones (1 connecting on 802.11ac/5 Ghz), 2 laptops, 1 tablet (5 Ghz), all on 802.11n. No significant degradation in speeds. In my opinion, the only negative is that it feels and looks cheap. But because it is!
Well, I will recommend this router to anyone who does not want to spend more than $50 on a Gigabit router and who does not have lots of high bandwith devices at home connecting to the internet at the same time.
EDIT: I called back D-link support a few days later to ask the results of their lab testing. They said they hand't done it, and preceded to ask me if they could have a few more days to "run tests" on their version of my router. After becoming verbally frustrated with the representative that she was intentionally running me in circles to get me to give up on a return under warranty, my agent, Rachael (Agent #AR004675), and her RMA (return processor) supervisor, "Van Ngo", agreed to a return to perform a "failure analysis" on it.
I've sent it out to D-Link but have yet to receive any refund check, so I'll need to call a third time to request what should have been taken care of in a single phone call.
This was such a pain to get any sort of fix for something which should have been easy with my receipt.
The initial setup was a minor hassle, with the router failing to connect to the Internet through the cable modem until I after performed 3 hard resets to the router's defaults (even though I configured it the same way each time). Since then, the connection to the modem has only dropped about 3 times (requiring a bounce of both the router and modem to bring back up), which all things considered isn't too bad for a router at this price these days.
DLNA server features work quite well on the internal network, but trying to access the server away from home has proven to be a bit of a challenge. I have yet to determine if ISP or router is the source of the problem, however.
