Before becoming a novelist, the author sang and danced her way through life. After moving into a mid-19th-century farmhouse with a palpable and rich history, she began her writing career, writing a post-Civil War story revolving around Shannon Cook--a beautiful Irish emigrant who faces insurmountable challenges.
