Hello,
I was flirting w/ the idea of an air fryer for some x now, but as a European Transplant the idea to spend so much $$ & then return it, if not happy is still too complex for me to internalize...
...until I got this offer for a cute, small "returned" air fryer by Dash for the reduced price of ~$40 on Amazon!
I hesitated at first...I NEVER was a friend of coated, non-stick kitchen wares, the very moment they flooded the market eons ago, yet I ordered it to make my own first hand experience w/ air fryers & if I'm not satisfied, I planned to donate it away w/o bleeding out...
The air fryer came in its original box, an original address label (?) taped over, it seems complete except warranty & instructions are missing.
The turquoise coloured exterior of the air fryer has a few tiny scratches, which don't bother me, on the matt black (silicon?) top & the inside it has marks that appear to be grease stains (?).
I immediately started to clean it w/ warm water & dash of Mrs. Meyer dishwashing soap. The cleaning was quite easy... perhaps because I was full of anticipation to air fry my very own chicken wings... 😉
I have no dishwasher unfortunately, thus had to handwash basket & tray...
Bummer... I noticed some tiny silvery spots inside the basket & on the tray as well. It appears the coating is peeled/ peeling or flaked, or it didn't get 100% coated...or worse the prior owner "abused" it.

My questions now:
Is this air fryer dangerous to use in this condition? What about BPA contaminating the food? I DO mind nonstick "non-toxic" materials in my food!
Will flaking increase w/ the use of this appliance? Is this type of flaking rare, did other consumers alerted you of this?
Do you replace these parts? Do you provide -similiar to some microwave mfgers- a touch-up "paint" for fixing the coating, for example to protect chemicals from getting into the food?
I haven't used the Dash Air Fryer yet because of these very concerns.
This item is so cute, not too bulky & I can't wait to prepare delicious food...
Btw I also checked some YouTube clips for guidance & many mentioned silicone liners etc. (for air fryers that were already used for some x, before the peeling-off started - not "new", like the one I bought!).
Would these liners protect from BPA et al. seeping into the food during preparation?
I'd really appreciate if someone could help w/ the questions I have...right now, I am looking at this "cake" & am too afraid to eat it...

This is a bit small for our family of three but it's a good starter if your new on using air fryers. The numbers would rubbed off easily, the numbers 6 to 15 on mine disappeared after a couple of use but it's not a big problem. Sometimes it would stop 2mins before the time but if you set it back to 5mins again it would stop at zero. If you also use this like 4 or 5 consecutive times there's a big chance that it would not run just give it a rest and it will work again. This product works perfect for me especially making after school snacks since I have two jobs and needs a fast and healthy way to cook for my daughter. She likes air fried salmon, cheesy muscles and takoyaki which I cook easily on my Dash air fryer. Despite the little flaws I mentioned I still love using this product. I believe the money I spent is worth it. I would recommend this to a couple or a single person.
