Being from Western Pennsylvania, pizelles were a common cookie of my youth, a lot harder to find in the south. And if you do, they are expensive and you can rarely find Anise. I figured I would give this a shot. Turns out this little guy is a real workhorse. The cookies taste great. Only complaints are they take about a minute and a half each and didn't get as crispy as I am used to. Excellent item overall.

You don't need to spray the maker as the butter is enough ~I oiled it the first time just in case to see~. He is also Italian, so a lot of family tradition was riding on this little maker. I was completely amazed by this little pizzelle maker. My late mother used to make pizzelles all the time during special holidays. The store bought pizzelles just are not like homemade. I wasn't really sure how this small Dash pizzelle maker would do, and wow, I was completely surprised. The instructions are extremely easy to follow, and the mix instructions were absolutely perfect. These tasted just like my mom's. It takes about a minute and 20 seconds for each pizzelle to be made. The booklet that comes with the maker has many recipes for pizzelles and I chose to make the anise flavored. I'm definitely going to try the vanilla next time. I sprayed Pam on it before using it and after four pizzelles were made. Nothing got stuck to the maker and it was very easy to clean. This is definitely a five-star product and I am very happy with it.

I love all my Dash products, and this is no different. A couple of recommendations, first heat it up ahead to burn off the coating. I did spray it a little with avocado oil. Having said that, you shouldn’t need it if the recipe has a lot of oil or butter. Also, put the batter centre back, lower the lid but don’t push it down. The weight of the lid will spread the mixture. The cookies are very soft, and should be until they harden, so use a small spatula to lift them and let them cool completely. As you can see in the photo I placed a few over a small bowl. I wanted to make a keto ice cream bowl. Gently centre the cookie over the bowl then gingerly form it around the bowl.

I was shocked at how small it was but then I tried it out and it works great! The size of the cookie is a normal size but the machine seems very tiny.( child like cooker) It’s a bit time consuming but it does go pretty quickly you don’t need to keep the batter in there long it cooks fast. So far I’m impressed with it the cookies are so good. Only hard part not to eat the cookies while making them.
