Credibility: I'm a full time violin teacher.
By Raquel on June 4, 2021
If you're buying for a child or beginner student, they'll work just fine, but they just aren't good strings. They feel weak and brittle and they have a very thin tone to them. If you're used to Thomastik Dominants or something of similar/better quality, you're DEFINITELY going to notice the drop in quality with these strings. No intermediate or proficient violinist is going to mistake these for a string set of even moderate quality. If I were an elementary or high school music teacher and wanted to buy some cheap backup strings for my students, these would be a fine enough pick. I'd use them in a pinch, or for a set of strings to really wail on, but I wouldn't play a concert with them or use them for a hymn at church.
I really wanted to like these strings. The price is right, and I love D'Addario's Bass strings, but these are just a step up from junk.

Packaging isnt too bad i suppose but it can be confusing as the D string is somewhat thinner looking that the A string. It doesnt mention which string is which colour and reading from other reviews that have got snapped strings, they might have been caught out by this.
Anyway long story short, i changed the strings and tuned them up. gave them another 2 or 3 tune up before playing them. Surprisingly, the G and D strings sound very metallic and the sounds feels like the violin is made of metal rather than wood. A and E are alright.
Decided to leave them over night and try again next morning. Tuned them up again and played simple tunes. Beginnning to dislike the sounds produced by the G and D string as it still sound like i am playing a steel violin (search youtube for metal or steel violin and you will know what it sounds like)
These are going into the bin once I get myself a set of Dominants. Very disappointed with these.
Much better and generally a warmer tone when playing.
The e string is sinificantly less squeeky/whistly.
