The bracketry, harness, hardware, and resistor are all there and in great shape and look like it'll be a fast conversion
The alternator, however, is a completely different story. I knew it was a cheapo alternator before purchase, but still.
This alternator squeaks, squeals, and has a ticking noise like a baseball card in a bicycle rim when spun by hand. in my experience, this is almost a sure sign of premature failure.
Also, not so much as a big mechanical problem vs a cosmetics issue, the fan itself is bent up quite badly. As it was packaged pretty well, I can only assume it was sent right from the factory like this. As I don't have time to return it and wait on another one, (crops can't wait on bad parts) I'm gonna have to chance it and hope like hell it does it's job.
If, however it does fail, I will be promptly returning it.
In any case, I will be buying a replacement alternator of a better quality in the near future as backup, as this is sure to not last.
I spoke too soon. Had to drill out every single hole on the bolt on brackets to proper sizing. Their bolts didn't even fit THEIR holes. the wiring harness was terrible. ended up having to take it all apart put new ends on a bunch of it, and reconfigure the layout of it to actually work.
Once alternator was able to be installed it remains "loose", due to improper sizing of the main pivot bolt that holds the bottom.
The wiring to me, and I'm really good with wiring hence the rewire by myself, was TERRIBLE. wrong ends, wrong layout, and the absolute WORST wiring diagram I have ever personally seen. I was making better diagrams when I was 7. Good thing I'm good with wiring, because if i wasn't this would have been a real nightmare.
Honestly, all things considered, this product isn't worth the money spent. Spend a few extra bucks on the whole kit from a different manufacturer or buy a gm battery, a couple rolls of wire, and make some brackets on a saturday. Can't wait to see how long this cheap arse alternator lasts me.
Other than that, decent product for what it is, very little money.
And I say that ONLY because of what my pop always told me, "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR".
