Factors taken into account are price, form/feel, and of course function.
The first one I tried was the Satechi BT Wireless. It looked different and it didn't cost much, so I figured.. why not. That was a mistake. The button placement on that thing sucked. And the volume output was really low. Sometimes the audible power feature wouldn't even work, so I'd be stuck guessing as to whether or not the thing was on. Failure number 1.
Then I tried the X-Mini II capsule speaker. I read what seemed like fake decent reviews, but I decided to take the risk regardless. The first thing I noticed was the really crappy build quality, it seems like the company really cheaped out on materials for this one. After turning it on, I really wasn't satisfied with the audio quality, especially because of what some of the reviews I read on it would have lead me to believe. This thing sucked as well. Failure number 2.
Then I decided to go with the iHome iHM78. It seemed cheaper than some other bluetooth speakers, and although these DO produce good volume, the quality of the sound is lacking. With a portable speaker you expect versatility, and in for the iHM78 to perform well, you'd need to place it on a flat, hard surface, and even under these ideal conditions.. sound quality still felt like it was lacking. This is ignoring the fact that you're tethered to the audio cord constantly, ultimately limiting your mobility. Failure number 3.
So then I decided to give DBEST a try. I hadn't heard much about them (they're apparently based in the United Kingdom), but I read a few good reviews and decided to pull the trigger on the Duo Bluetooth. After receiving them, I was initially very impressed with the build quality, especially after I had dropped them from 5 feet up after tearing open the mailer, only to pick them back up without a scratch. They are very aesthetically-pleasing, and smooth to the touch. I connected them via bluetooth to my iPhone and was very impressed with the sound quality. It was a very "full" sound.. good bass, good highs, good lows, very balanced overall. I've had them on for about 15 hours straight between music and audiobooks and they're still working. So battery life is awesome. Also, after having experienced portable speakers with BLUETOOTH technology, I can never go back to wired. The versatility of wireless is simply where it is at. The speakers are working right now from halfway across the room. Setting up the bluetooth on my computer was a breeze, it took less than 10 seconds and the sound quality on that was amazing as well. I also love the dual-speaker setup, which I feel really helps distribute the sound strongly and evenly. It came with a felt bag to keep the speakers/charging cable in which I can imagine being very convenient for traveling. The speakers charge with a micro-USB cable, which is also great, because so many common electronics use this, so even if I lose the cable, finding a replacement would be no problem.. unlike the other brands. Overall, these are great speakers and more people need to know about DBEST. They are miles ahead of the competition.
And if any of you are thinking of doing anything besides bluetooth portable speakers for sound projection, like those garbage Dr. Dre Beats.. Eazy E has just has one thing to say.. on his own album covers, he was a she-thing.
1.They are tiny and the bass is good for a 2 watt amp. They are solid and seem to handle music, video, and games well. And best of all, they are actually stereo. The right speaker is the master, the one with the on/off switch, the usb charging port, and the battery.
2.They are supposed to have a 20 hour use via bluetooth and 40 hours, if plugged directly into your computer, phone, or whatever. I've only had them for about 8 hours, so we'll see.
3.You can use them while they are charging, so all is well at that point. If you like portability, these are perfect. But if you want killer base, you need a stationary home sound system.
Most of them sounded pretty good once they are connected, specially Bose and Sony (of course, they are also very expensive compared to Duo), but the main problem was that once the ultrabook was turned off or in Sleep mode, the bluetooth gets disconnected which I had to remove the bluetooth icon from the setting and re-connect in order for me to use it with bluetooth. That was the main hassel on all other brands. But only this London Duo speaker set was able to be connected automatically without removing, re-connecting...etc without all the troubles. And IT SOUNDS GREAT, VERY LOUD AND CLEAR. Of course, with bluetooth connection the sound level and clarity get bit inferior compared to using 3.5mm speaker jacks directly without going thru bluetooth, however, no matter what, it works totally awesome. I had to return so many other bluetooth speakers and now finally I found the only unit that works great with my ultrabook, Acer. Perhaps, considering so many other speakers not working properly, the cause might be from my ultrabook rather than the other speakers. But DBEST came out to be the BEST bluetooth speaker for my ultrabook. AWESOME SPEAKER WITH GREAT PRICING. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. Thanks DBEST.
The battery life is EXCELLENT and its refreshing to see a company actually reach their claims. You can get 20 hours and I'm not talking about at a whisper. The price is a little steep but if you look at the quality and the fewer times you will have to charge it it's worth it! In this case you a get what you pay for.
The range is a minimum of 30 feet on my galaxy s2 before the sound begins to break up.
The quality of sound is good to excellent for a radio with speakers 3 times larger and they have some bass. Definitely the best minuture speakers I have ever heard.
