Next I set the sliders to flat at 0 db boost. An AB comparison of the sound with and without the EQ in the circuit resulted in no audible difference between the two. After that I ser the sliders to +3 db across the audio spectrum. I then compared the EQ out of the circuit with the 3 db boost at constant volume
using the volume control. Again no change in the sound. I was unable to hear the high frequency noise another reviewer heard. I find the 12 db/octave cut useful when playing vinyl. All in all this is a supurb product; unbeleivable at the price.
You can do this by ear, adjusting the right or left side depending on which speaker is closer to the unit and adjusting each high end fader one by one.
I recently bought a pair of Polk Audio TSX 440's. They sound good however I needed to balance them to my taste and the 231 did the job!
The unit is very well made, it weighs 6lbs and it's easy to use.
Note: This unit has XLR connectors but there are RCA/XLR adapters if your system has RCA connectors. Also the black version of the 231 has been discontinued by DBX but the 231s replaces it. The only difference is front panel is silver instead of black.

Good piece of gear. The photo is slightly misleading. The unit I received from Music123 is actually a DBX 231s and is a light silver color. Read morePublished 6 months ago by Amazon Customer
This has worked fine for what I use it for. No problems yet. Use it for live shows for a three piece band.Published on May 31, 2012 by El Heffe.
