Product Description

Batman: As a child, Bruce Wayne™ watched as his parents were brutally killed in Gotham City’s Crime Alley. Traumatized by their deaths, he devoted his life to becoming the world’s greatest weapon against crime—the Batman! To become the ultimate vigilante, the Dark Knight™ disciplined his mind and body to reach the pinnacle of mental and physical superiority in his relentless pursuit of justice! Robin: When Batman™ finds out that he and Talia al Ghul™, daughter of Ra’s al Ghul™, fathered a son, Damian, the Dark Knight™ takes the young boy under his wing and gives him a new home. Soon after, Damian Wayne™ becomes the newest Robin™—the Dark Knight’s protégé and crime-fighting partner. More than just a sidekick, Robin is an accomplished acrobat, a skilled fighter, and a sharp detective in his own right. Through rigorous and constant training, Robin maintains his physical edge, which, along with his knowledge of martial arts, makes him a formidable match for even the most experienced criminals Batgirl: By day, Barbara Gordon™ is the bookish daughter of the Gotham City™ Police Commissioner, Jim Gordon™. By night, Barbara dons a cape and cowl as Batgirl, committed to justice like her father. While her Utility Belt™ is equipped with Batarangs™ and other crime-fighting gadgets, her greatest tools are her brilliant mind and her unwavering determination. Batgirl is an expert martial artist and gymnast, trained in part by Batman™, who’s extremely athletic and agile. Her eidetic memory, heightened intelligence, and advanced knowledge of computers makes her a natural leader and skilled crime fighter. Nightwing: Dick Grayson™ began his crime-fighting career as the original Robin™ —Batman’s™ protégé and crime-fighting partner. An expert acrobat and skilled fighter, Dick eventually left the nest and ventured out on his own as a new hero called Nightwing. His childhood experiences as a circus acrobat and trapeze artist make him extremely agile. He is a superior fighter and a highly skilled martial artist who has been personally trained by Batman. Nightwing is a keen detective, a natural leader, and a strategist with advanced knowledge of a variety of technologies Red Hood: Red Hood™ is a name and identity that has been used by various heroes and villains over the years. The current and best-known Red Hood is Jason Todd™, a fierce hand-to-hand combatant and vigilante crime-fighter who was once Batman’s™ second heroic apprentice called Robin™. He has a complicated relationship with both his former mentor, Batman, and the original Robin, Dick Grayson™.

Needless to say, I have been waiting a long time to get my hands on this!! And the wait was worth it!! It came in great condition!!! I have not yet taken the figures out because I'm just not ready lol. But I will update my review once I get to it!! And the fact that I got it when it was on sale was a plus!!! Awesome addition to any Collector's collection!!!

    Awesome set of figures
  • Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2023
I watched this set for months and bought it when it dropped to $73. It came fast and pretty well shipped. I heard something inside the box and opened it up quickly. And to my dismay, the figures were all replaced with Mattel Multiverse figures with the stands and cards removed. I called Amazon immediately and they sent me a new set that night. It came a few days later complete. I really love this set, especially Batgirl's color palette. Great set for the price but even better on sale.

I would have given this set 5 stars, except many of us Multiverse geeks were a bit disappointed with McFarlane Toys having changing the head sculpt on Nightwing to a funky looking grimacing expression, which is pretty out of character for him.

However, it was also discovered that if you switched out that head for Red Hood's fantastic human head sculpt and then give Red Hood the included cracked red helmet head, you'd then have a solid Bat Family figure set! My Nightwing now has that 90s look and I love it. :)

Another thing to make note of, they fixed Batgirl's no neck issue by installing a slightly longer neck peg joint. She looks much less peculiar with her long legs. :)
The gold parts on her suit, with the exception of her belt, are molded gold pigmented plastic. Not paint.

Red Hood's helmet does not have the metallic finish we've seen in the previous release but it is actually a slightly pearly paint with a subtle metallic sheen.
Note: I gave mine some weapons from Mcfarlane's munitions pack. ;)

Robin looks great and his face is actually fully painted in with a matte skin tone.
There are some light dry brushed highlights on his hair, which is a nice touch. On top of that, the yellow paint on his previous suit was replaced with a nice bright gold paint.

Batman looks great but I do wish they painted in his trunks blue as well. Something feels off about this, but thankfully it's an easy fix with some quality acrylic paint. ;)

Do I recommend this set? That depends. If you've missed out on some or all of these previously released figures, namely the original Nightwing which is now pretty expensive to get second hand, and enjoy the new color schemes/head sculpts on this set, then yes. The 5 figures are just as good as their original releases in varying colors at basically 20 dollars a pop.

The included Red Hood cracked helmet along the great masked head sculpt, is what made this a win for me, as I can now have a proper 90s Nightwing that is arguably now better looking than the original issue of the figure. :D

With some paint, you can even make the grimacing head work for the Red Hood and that one actually fits in character much better than vice versa imho.

If you already own most or all of the original figures, then... eh.. maybe not for the hefty price of 107 dollars (which is what you'd pay right now via Prime plus tax). I'd maybe wait for a discount . :)

Not a bad variant set if you missed out on the originals. Headswaps are possible!

This set come nicely packaged for a collection or a gift. You get the whole family in one box so you don't have to search for all of them. The only downside is I wish the box had the cool art work on one side and a window to see the figure on the other. That would really cool for collectors. PS the artwork on the box is really good too.
