Buyer beware. This is a lousy, overpriced, poorly manufactured product. I'm out of pocket a grand so you can bet I'd use a lot nastier descriptors for my Dacor experience if I thought it'd get past the language filters.
We like the size and features (convection is useful), and we have it trimmed in the cabinets so we hesitated changing to another brand/size. That's why we bought the second, replacement one. But after this second breakdown so soon, and given the very high price, we're trying something else. (If we were dealing with a simple microwave here, and the price was the avg. of about $200, we'd just replace it and give a higher rating.) Poor quality for price. This is just not a good brand!
We primarily use the "convection" mode, to avoid microwave waves in our food and in our house. I measured it with the trifield meter, and there was external EMF generated when it was micorwaving, but not while it was in the convection mode, so that made me feel like the convection mode was really free of microwaves, which is what I was hoping for.
It offers just microwave, or just convection, or blended "programs" to cook various types of food with both types of heat.
