This has to be the least expensive non stick cook ware ever available on amazon. I am one of those males who has a hard time doing anything for himself and I usually just go to the store and buy beef jerky and consider that a meal alongside my coffee but this rice cooker has changed my life I think. It's been two weeks and I've done nothing but make rice it even has a marker on it that lets you know if you're about to screw up your rice or not because it does everything for you after you fill the water to the line. I was scared at first because the instruction manual is as thick as a novel but sadly it is the same directions repeated 36 times in 12 languages for what I assume is the purpose to prevent idiots from melting the plastic dish that comes with the cooker. It doesn't actually tell you what the dish is for it just says to remove it before you heat anything. It can't be used a strainer because the holes are too big and you can't put dry rice on it because it'll stick to the plastic. There's a really wide spoon it comes with too and I'm just guessing that's for shoveling it into my mouth which I've been doing regularly. It works like a toaster so you can't screw it up even if you tried, and you can even leave it on for six days or until your roommates discover you've left it on again while you were asleep. Don't touch the little metal ring on the inside while it's plugged in. The instruction manual actually says not to do this but I tried it anyway and now and missing a layer skin on the index finger of my right hand so you've been warned.

**UPDATE**
We received our warrant replacement unit from the manufacturer...and after only a couple uses - it is constantly clicking off before cooking is finished, and it is emitting electrical smoke badly!
After all the hassles we went through (described below) to get the replacement..we won't go there again. We'll just cut our losses here. These things are just plain unsafe for your home.

Stay clear of this product!...like many other reviewers - ours stopped working after only a few months. It was encouraging that Black & Decker responded here (read below responses) however the warranty hoops are insane. Get this...
- you have to contact them to obtain an ID number.
- you then have to email them with a difficult to read code from your appliance electrical prong.
- you then get an email telling you that you must cut off the electrical prong & mail it to them! At the same time you must send a letter and $6 for shipping! I kid you not!
All this inconvenience to YOU...because THEY screwed up. Who is going to jump through all these silly hoops for a silly $30 rice cooker? By the time I receive a replacement it will be like a month without the use of said appliance. Who has time or patience for this crap?
Tell you what we are doing - we are buying a much superior rice cooker from Costco for the same price. You can return anything to Costco. They just toss it back to the manufacturer.
In fact...I highly recommend steering clear of Black & decker entirely. We also have their Dustbuster which no longer re-charges after a short period of time.

Stopped working after only 8 months!
Black & Decker will you please help?
Was working fine - but suddenly died in the middle of cooking. No lights - nothing!

I have used rice cookers for years. When the water heats at level #1, the water bubbles up and spews rice water through the vent and onto the counter and the the cooker. The rice tends to brown and get hard—not the typical sticky rice I am used to. I cannot image what would happen if I tried the maximum amount of rice and water. I have added a picture- look closely bubbling water coming out of lid and dripping over top onto the counter.

This is the third time that my black and decker rice cooker burnt itself out during normal operation! I have been buying it again and again simply due to its low price, thinking that the failure is a statistical inevitability, but in this case the product manufacturing is certainly FAULTY!
Very low lifespan! First one failed after 3 months of use, second one failed within 10 days, third one failed after 2 months of use!
Not betting my money anymore on this now.

This rice cooker was ok once I first started using it. Which is not much. Its cute but NO HOLD TO IT! It is ONLY 2 1/2 months later and the pot NO LONGER WORKS!! This is truly frustrating! I have never had this happen with any rice cooker. I cannot say what happened except one evening it did "NOT WORK ANYMORE"! VERY DISAPPOINTED; NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE IT! IT SUCKS, BECAUSE $$ DOES NOT GROW ON A TREES.

This product burns my rice. Every. Single. Time.

It's small, built well, and stores away nicely but every time I attempt for rice, it's burnt all the way around the sides of the container and I have to soak and scrape it clean. I have followed the instructions on the provided pamphlet, I have toyed around with different measurements of rice to water, etc but somehow it never comes out right.

Be sure to read the manual for tips on making rice just the way you like it and to make sure different kinds of rice are cooked slightly different. Jasmine rice comes out killer in this! doesn't take up a lot of counter space either! Easy clean up or quickly to put in fridge in plenty for leftovers. Easy to scrap out left overs if make correctly. I wanted one of these for a long time and I got this for such a great price! Improves my everyday life greatly!

Si deseas agregar el arroz a tus comidas sin tanto embrollo, realmente una arrocera vale la pena, esta en especial es mi primer arrocera, la intencion que tuve desde el principio fue ahorrarme el rollo de estarla cuidando y moviendo para que no se quemara.

Con esta arrocera ya no tengo ese problema, sencillamente agrego un chorito de aceite de oliva, pongo las tazas de arroz que deseo y agrego el agua necesaria un poco de sal y pimienta, la enciendo y puedo hacer otras cosas mientras se termina de cocinar, al terminar de hervir automaticamente se pone en modo calentar, ya solo llego y sirvo.

La arrocera me facino bastante, casi diario preparo arroz y ya estoy probando con diferentes granos (integral, extra, super extra, largo, para sushi), aunque aun no le agarro bien la maña, decir que para mi vale la pena, tanto que ya ordene otra para darsela a mi hermana.

Concejos para aquellos que la vayan a utilizar o esten utilizando

- Si tu arrocera al hervir comienza a burbujear y derrama por las orillas de la tapa.
Hay que lavar bien el arroz y quitarle la mayor cantidad de almidon, en mi caso la paso por el agua 5 veces hasta que el agua deje de salir tan lechosa o salga transparente.

- Para reducir el tiempo de coccion
Deja remojando el arroz durante unos 10-15 minutos.

- Para que no se queme la parte de abajo del arroz
Unta aceite en la olla. Y al terminar de cocinar, mueve el arroz, revuelvelo lo de abajo para arriba y tapa la arrocera durante unos minutos mas.

La arrocera fue buena mientras duro, el arroz no salia a la perfeccion con las medidas del instructivo pero haciendo algunos pequeños ajustes a las cantidades funciona. Tambien se pegaun poco pero no es un gran problema porque con poco esfuerzo se puede limpiar. El problema mayor es que dejo de funcionarsin ni siquiera tener 1 año de haber sido comprada.

Para ser justos, le hemos dado mucho uso, 2 o 3 dias por semana desde que se compro ha estado haciendo arroz, sin ebargo aun con este uso constante no me parece que deberia de haber dejado de funcionar tan pronto. Para hacer las cosas peores, al ser un producto de importacion no se como sera lo de lagarantia, me parece que sera un poco dificil reclamarla pero necesito revisar eso con el servicio a clientes de amazon todavia.

No la volveria a comprar nuevamente ni la recomiendo.
