The Dewalt DW9116 7.2 - 18V battery charger will charge all ranges of Dewalt batteries (except uni-volt) from 7.2 through 18-volt to provide users with the convenience of only needing one charger to keep their batteries charged. This charger also features an LED display light with 5 different signals to communicate battery charge status.
This is an amazing little charger that literally breathes new life into your failing DeWalt batteries. It revitalizes everything from 9.6 volts through the big 18-volters, but what's so great about this charger is that not only can it be used as a standard quick charger, but if you leave a worn-down battery in for four to 10 hours, the charger conditions the battery with a tune-up mode, and at completion, it automatically converts to trickle charge, so you'll never damage a battery by leaving it in the charger too long.
Diagnostics with LED indicators give you the battery status at a glance: charged, charging, power line problem, replace pack, and battery too hot or too cold. It's got a small footprint, which is always a plus, and the price is look-twice-and-rub-your-eyes cheap.--Kris Jensen-Van HesteSee all Product description

Diagnostics LED indicators allow you to see at a glance the status of your charge. by looking at the flashing LED red light you an tell if the battery is charged, there is a problem with your power supply, the battery pack is no good and one very intelligent feature if the battery is too hot or too cold the charger will let you know that it is not charging till the temperature of the battery is optimal for obtaining a good charge.
Having said all these wonderful things about this charger there is one small negative. This charger will not charge some Dewalt batteries that have L shape connectors. The Dewalt DC9310 charger has all the great features of this charger plus it charges both types of batteries (L shaped connections and straight connections).
I hope this helps every one in their search for a great Dewalt Battery Charger.
This charger will accept a range of battery voltages, and I have used it to charge several different ones over the past few years. I would highly recommend this charger to anyone having the older style Black & Decker or Dewalt NiCad batteries - It will work much better than the inexpensive charges that came with many tools, and will also lengthen the life of your old batteries.
I found this charger, purchased it and it brought back to life two batteries I thought were dead to the world. And, both with decent charge capacity, maybe not as much as they were originally but with two I'm not too worried about that.
So please, don't waste your money on the B&D charger like a fool...I already did that for you. This is well worth the price and works like a champ.
P.S. Item was sold by A.W. Meyer Co. Inc. and was very pleased with their quick delivery and good packing of the unit.
The first couple batteries I tried were giving me the fast flash indicator which means throw them away and buy new ones. The rest of them all took a charge but on a couple of them, the charge would not last more than a few minutes. I tried chaging these overnight, and the charge lasted longer, but not much longer. On three of the batteries they took a full charge and the charge lasts for a long time. It seems the more I discharge and recharge these used batteries, the longer the charge lasts.
My only complaint is the Firestorm batteries fit very tightly into the charging socket in the bottom of the charger, and I have a dickens of a time getting the battery back out of the charger. This may be caused by some slight difference in size between the Dewalt and Firestorm batteries. It works fine, does what it is supposed to, and I would probably buy another one if anything happened to this one.
