I can't say if this would work for heavy duty daily type use but for a DIY'er it seems to work quite well. It's light, has a nice case, and with the SDS bits they are quick and easy to change.
I've used this drill to drill holes in both concrete and brick. It is extremely effective. Once the hammering engages, it makes quick work of the task at hand. I have also used it in "hammer only" mode with a chisel bit to remove tile. It worked well; better than my pneumatic chisel.
I bought DeWalt because I have many of their tools and typically find them well built and thought out. This drill does not seem to be an exception to that. The only minor complaint I would have is that the depth guide is rather impractical. It is plastic all around so it is not very sturdy. And because of the way the depth guide is set it has a tendency to move if you bump it or push it too hard.
There are a couple of things worth noting while using as a hammer drill. You have to press a little to get the hammering to engage. I believe this is by design, but it can catch you by surprise if you are not ready for it. Be very careful on brick. It is easy to damage it because this drill is rather powerful for use on brick.
Overall, I think this is a good drill and would recommend it.
