DeWalt 18v is my livelyhood. i normally charge 2 xrp batteries every day, 1 charge and these l-ion last me 1 1/2 to 2 days each. lighter, faster cherge, longer life, more power late in the cycle. i was doughtful they would be worth the cost, but i'm sold 100%. oh, and DON'T BUY THE BLACK TOPS (dc9181) these are low grade, cut rate crap, designed for the weekend warriors.

It makes me very happy that DeWalt has produced a system of the new generation lithium ion batteries that work in tools I bought with the older nickel cadmium style batteries. It also makes me happy that the chargers work with both kinds of batterys. These lithium ion batteries work well now, last when charged and I am expecting them to last through many rechargings. Thank-you DeWalt.

Have always liked my Dewalt 18 volt cordless tools but did NOT care for the continuous discharge of the batteries (even when not in use) and the very limited number of recharges. The Litium-Ion batteries do not loose a charge and will recharge about 2,000 times (or so they say). They may have slightly less run time per charge, as opposed to nicad, but that is overcome by the fact the battery is always ready to use. Fair warning, these are not cheap no matter where you purchase but Amazon has had these best pricing. Overall, this battery makes cordless tools the near perfect item. Yes, they do have some minor limitations but I can live with them and enjoy the versatility of a fine cordless tool(s).

These are perfect replacements for my old DC9180s. Lightweight and they run forever. As a side note I love the DeWalt 20V stuff but I don't have any intention of switching my tools over until they finally die.

I have had a good experience with these batteries. So far they have lasted longer on a charge than the NiCad batteries I replaced. I notice when they are at the end of a charge, they stop rather than slow down. This not a problem, just a difference. You will need a different charger if you are buying these seperately. They don't fit my cordless drill presicely, but they are sufficient, and there is no problem with functionally.

These babies replace the ! FAIL ! XRP nickel metal hydride batteries DeWalt fobbed off on the unsuspecting public for several years. The XRPs were heavy, didn't have a lot of run time, couldn't hold a charge for much more than two weeks, were expensive, hard to dispose of and died an early death. What wasn't there to love. These address most of those issues, although they are (surprise !) somewhat more expensive and don't hold as much charge as some of the competition (36 Ah as opposed to 54 Ah for the equivalent Home Depot Ridgid tools). Still, they hold a working charge for months and are much lighter. These Nano batteries are backward compatible with tools using the earlier XRP style battery port. DeWalt has since reneged on their promise of compatibility to provide for dubious 'smart battery' cuteness in their newest Nano offerings, like a battery meter. If you have early XRP style tools, stock up on these and get the mandatory Nano charger to go with them. When these cease to be available, I, for one, will regretfully end my relationship with DeWalt tools.

These arrived dead, charged fully in 1 hr. They are keyed so that they will not fit into the wrong type charger, a good thing. Also they will not fit into my older flash lights, a bad thing.

These sell in the stores for $130 each!! OUCH!! Do NOT use them in old 18V Dewalt tools with bad brushes or you'll fry the battery.
I've spent 3 of them using them on old impact drivers. However, on new er 18V tools - no problems so far.
