The DCF885L2 lithium-ion 1/4-inch impact driver is equipped with LED lights to aid visibility in dim workspaces (view larger).
DEWALT optimized the DCF885L2 so it can handle a variety of applications and withstand daily jobsite wear and tear. Its durable motor delivers 2,800 RPM—up to 43 percent faster than current impact drivers on the market. Research shows that impact drivers are growing in popularity largely because of their smaller size and lack of kickback (or reactionary torque) thanks to the impact mechanism within the tool. Combined with its 5.55-inch length and 3.4-pound weight, this compact impact driver packs a serious punch in a small package.
DEWALT-designed electronics have been built into the DCF885L2’s switch to provide maximum life for the tools and batteries by helping to protect them from overheating, overloading, and deep discharge during use. The 20-volt’s lithium-ion batteries provide up to 35 percent more runtime than existing 18-volt lithium-ion battery technology. The included charger has dual voltage capabilities, and it is compatible with both 12-volt max and 20-volt max DEWALT lithium-ion batteries.
Ergonomics and Ease of Use
The impact driver included in this kit features a one-handed loading 1/4-inch hex chuck that accepts and holds 1-inch bit tips for convenient fastening in tight spaces. Its all-metal belt hook can be attached to either side of the tool, and the slim handle fits easily into users’ hands, increasing the level of comfort during the course of long jobs. The bright built-in LED work light above the trigger has a 20-second delay that improves visibility in dimly lit spaces.
About DEWALT's 20-Volt Max Lithium-Ion Tools
DEWALT’s line of 20-volt max lithium-ion tools features improvements in engineering and design to provide the performance, the ergonomics, and the innovation that contractors require. The new line consists of 11 tools, two lithium ion batteries, and two battery chargers, as well as a number of combo kits.

UPDATE: after 6 months of daily use, the chuck no longer allows you to just stab the nut driver in with one hand. That's only because it needs a little WD-40. So from now on i will be keeping it oiled or use 2 hands to stab nut driver. All else still works great.
UPDATE: After 8 months, now the switch seems to be going variable at will. hmmm might need a new switch soon ? And there's a whinning sound starting.
UPDATE: 2 years later it no longer works. Chuck will not hold the bit at all. Also battery mount area is loose & will not hold battery in, so it's useless. I bought 2 & they are both broke. Oh well.
UPDATE 3 years later. At this time I have bought 4 of these drills & ALL 4 chucks no longer hold bits in. Yep I'm MAD.
I have to say that I like this Dewalt Imapct, the size, the weight, the power, the fast 30 minute charger, the 3 LED lights are great, [my co workers are jealous].........I will update this first review later on.
Update: I was able to drive 140 3 inch screws into a double 2x6 boards with one charge, screws were driven 1 right next to each other.
I took some pictures but I don't see a way to insert them here. I'll take a video tomorrow 10/05/2011
Update 2: After exactly 88 days my drill already started wobbling to the point that is very difficult to drive screws :( I'm disappointed, I'll see what Dewalt can do. Amazon does not allowed for me to return it for the 90 day Dewalt return policy.:( I like my impact but I'm disappointed its wobbling after just 88 days.
I take good car of my tools specially on the trial period, it was not drop or abused so that's why I'm disappointed, specially when it supposed to be a workhorse......... did I'm mentioned I'm disappointed? :)
Nothing like that with the amazing 3.0 Ah battery on this puppy. Lots of torque, and the longest run time I've ever seen in a cordless power tool. Charging takes an hour or two. Since I don't use it that often, I really appreciate that the battery doesn't discharge when not in use -- although since it's a Li-Ion it should not be stored fully charged for an extended period of time. Another benefit: it's very lightweight for the amount of power it stores, especially compared to those old nicad batteries.
Highly recommended; this is a quality tool.
