Still my favorite mid-sized bench router even though designed in the 1980s

Still my favorite mid-sized bench router even though designed in the 1980s
This router was originally from the Swiss company ELU. Black & Decker bought that company in the mid 1980s and started selling this thereafter as a Dewalt tool in the brand's yellow color. Look up ELU plunge router and you can still find photos of vintage ones. I bought my first one somewhere around 2001 (over 20 years ago). I still use it to this day. My use is in a home workshop, so a professional quality tool should last me for many decades given to relatively light use compared to a commercial user. I'm kind of nuts about dust collection, and this is the best general purpose router dust collection I have found. it doesn't interfere with the working area at all, unlike so many other attempts out there. I have several other routers, but I always prefer using this one. The plunge action isn't silky smooth, but I rarely do plunge routing, so that isn't my top concern. This has more than enough power for handheld use IMO. Anything which needs more power belongs at the router table for safety IMO. I took pictures of my 20+ year old one alongside my 2022 purchase and they are nearly identical. The 2001 version is marked Made in England. The new one says Made in Italy. I don't know about you, but I do a cheer every time I find a tool or other product not made in China.
