Updated to say; I just ordered 3 more of these grinders. I LOVE the one touch guard!!!! You just bump it against the welding table to rotate it to any position you need....I'm quickly replacing all my grinders with these Dewalts....I like to keep about 10 grinders plugged in with different wheels and discs ready to grab, and these paddle switch high amp Dewalts have proven the best bang for the buck yet over all the others.
Updated again to say I just ordered another one of these as a gift to a new neighbor. He is notchin his truck frame to slam it on the ground....I now have 10 is these grinders in my welding shop. They are excellent.
Grinder came with case and wrench
The picture I have attached shows the unthreaded backing flange and the threaded locking flange which come with the angle grinder. Instructions advised to take both of these off for the grinding disks that I bought (Dewalt DW4523)
(The 2 grinding disks pictured DO NOT come with the kit)
No other adapters comes with this angle grinder.
About the only CON I can see so far is that there is a safety "lock" on the paddle on/off switch (if you use an angle grinder much, don't ever buy one with a slide switch...they either wear out quickly, or jam up from grinding debris after a short time)..... which is awkward/difficult to manipulate when wearing gloves, and tends to "stick" when it gets dirty from grinding swarf/dust. I will likely remove it.... it's held in by a simple "roll pin".
This grinder carries a 3 year warranty..... we'll see how that plays out..... I use grinders everyday, and likely put more work on one in a year then most people would in a lifetime.
These are also very smooth and low in vibration. The paddle switch is easy to use and since you have to hold the tool anyway, is the only way a dangerous tool like any angle grinder should be used. I learned that lesson the hard way when I had an angle grinder with a normal on/off switch get wrenched out of my hands and it proceeded to climb up my chest and flew over my shoulder and continued gyrating on the ground till I unplugged its power cord. I no longer own an angle grinder with an on/off switch and I own 11 angle grinders.
Also, to clear things up, in the q & a about the arbor size. The arbor is 5/8", with 5/8x11 threads, but the locking flange that holds grinding and cutting discs has a 7/8 shoulder. So any non-threaded accessories should have a 7/8 hole in order to have them sit properly on the flanges. Photo shows .875 (7/8) inches flange shoulder on the micrometer
However, don't let the reasonable price draw you into buying this 11 amp unit if you don't really need the full power - because it is large and weighs over 6 lbs. Dewalt, Makita and Bosch all make smaller, lighter 7 amp products which cost about the same but are easier to handle in tight spaces.
