Upon contacting Amazon's customer service, the representative was very helpful and kind in immediately overriding their return policy and issued me a pre-paid shipping return label which is simply awesome given that this is a 27lb product. He also ensured that a new basket will be mailed out within a couple of days.
I'm pretty handy with a needle and thread and might take it upon myself to do some whip stitching around this new basket to make sure this seam doesn't rip again. ALSO, the only other complaint I have about this basket is that, since the chains are a bit skinnier/lighter than the ones you'll see at your local disc golf course, my puts have a tendency to sometimes have weird spit outs or fly-through's because the chains cannot always stop the disc dead in its tracks. This is to be expected because this basket would weigh a heck of a lot more if they opted to use thicker gauge metal for the chains.
That said, the portability of this basket is great, and I do enjoy having it.
It could be improved in two ways:
1) they should add a lock pin to the bottom legs, so that when the unit is lifted the rubber stopper does not fall out of the bottom pipe.
2) the shoulder strap on the portable bag is too thin/wimpy and prolonged carrying hurts my shoulder because the strap digs in.
Those two issues are not enough for me to lower my 5/5 rating.
I've had awesome times with this...I setup at my local forested park and used yellow drop cloths to signify tee boxes for a 9 hole course. I spent all day re-positioning the basket (after each 9) - I even positioned it under a foot bridge (very challenging) - otherwise I tucked it behind trees and alcoves in the park. See my comment about the rubber stopper not staying-put when re-positioning (annoying) - but with two people involved one person can hold it while the other re-adjusts the legs and inserts the stopper while placing it on the ground.
Only draw back to this basket is it is a larger target then what you would see on the course. The chains are wider and the "cage" seems huge. So it does make hitting your shots easier. Will make you look good.
I chose this one because red will make it easier to see, it's light weight makes it easy to travel with, and the set up takes 5 minutes tops!
The 16 chains are set up in a way that they do create 2 rows of 8 and still make the cling noise when you score a disc in the basket. I'm sure you can add more chains if you wanted to. I won't to keep it light. The material is very durable and still like new after it's first use. The carry case is very nice and handy to have.
Others have also mentioned that the flag sitting on the top is fairly flimsy to which I agree and decided not to even use it. I was worried about the bottom piece set up as a tripod. I've had issues with tripods not being stable enough and falling in the direction opposite of one of the legs. This basket does not have this problem of itself or when the discs hit it. Obviously you would not bring this out on a pretty windy day.
If you're not looking for something permanent and heavy, I highly recommend this basket like others have done before me.
