L.J. Burke writes with truth and strength. Now a days people are consistently getting a divorce compared to years before. Burke referring about the children was very truthfully. Children are always the ones who feel the most hurt. But as Burke stated in his book which is one quote I loved from the book: "It means you are breaking up with your spouse, not your kids. They are the most important thing to consider while going through a divorce.".
Like I said at the beginning of my review. I've never been married or through a divorce but I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. Because it has great advice and lots of perspective written inside. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is contemplating a divorce or is going through a divorce. Also I recommend it just to anyone. I was never married but I still got great satisfaction from the book. It's a quick read that will leave you with a mind filled of information. Check it out!
The advice is good. Nothing a counselor wouldn't tell you. What made it more relatable and kept me reading was getting the first hand accounts of why the advice works. The author definitely would have benefitted from a book like this while he went through his divorce. He would have learned early on that ignoring your problems doesn't make them go away.
Overall, it was a decent read. If you're contemplating divorce or already in the process give this book a try. We know people get divorced all the time, yet the idea that noone understands is still one many deal with. This book, through sharing a personal story, gives that comforting feeling that someone does understand.
