First she lists properties that we try to seek in beauty products. She lists natural ingredients first and gives you several choices. Then she lists common ingredients in commercial products for this property and tells you some of the dangers associated with their use. This is extremely helpful when making substitutions as well.
The next part of the book gives very detailed and easy to follow recipes for face and body skin care. There are many options and she specifies why particular recipes are good for certain conditions.
I will avoid using the recipes that call for food ingredients that will spoil but if mixing up something new appeals to you then you may like those recipes. There are plenty of options so I found many recipes I want to try. She also gives very simple instructions for one ingedient so you can make natural skin care as easy as possible.
There is even a bonus section with recipes for cosmetics. That was a wonderful surprise. I am not ready for that commitment yet but it is coming and I will be reeferring to this book.
In my previous research I have been quite alarmed about the lack of oversight in the beauty industry and the risks associated with most formulas. Your skin is your largest organ and your body absorbs most of what you put on. This book is a huge help in my quest to use natural and healthy products and still get the beauty benefits I desire.
it is not enough to buy products labeled natural or organic. Educate yourself. And then know that you have alternatives and you do not have to settle for the rugged look!
Organic skin care has really changed my skin all around. It's brighter, healthier and more resilient.
It really is a pretty good book, if you get the chance you should check it out!
