The makers of Guitar Hero introduce an entirely fresh and innovative way to experience music and rhythm gameplay. DJ Hero features an amazing variety of music across genres – tracks that you love and reflect who you are. Using an authentic turntable controller, you will spin and scratch more than 100 songs into unique mixes and become the life of the party. Get ready for a whole new phenomena in music.
Like the music that inspired it, DJ Hero allows players to experience music in a new revolutionary way through through its game-specific controller. Included with the DJ Hero software, the DJ Hero controller is a combination turntable and mixer that immerses you into authentic DJ culture allowing you to scratch, cross-fade, and beat match. The turntable half of the controller features three color-coated buttons used to direct action during gameplay and a realistically rotating turntable. The opposite end of the controller contains the mixer controls in the form of a lateral fader allowing for switching between tracks and mixing, a knob for additional effects and a button for capturing "euphoria," a star power-like point bonus. In addition, the mixer portion of the controller detaches to accommodate left-handed players and contains an out of the way compartment holding a D-pad and conventional controller buttons for easy console navigation. Taken together, both halves of the controller allow players to customize their mix with a variety of effects and samples transforming a face in the crowd into the life of the party. Gameplay Gameplay in DJ Hero is reminiscent to games in the Guitar Hero series. Musical prompts stream towards players on one of three color-coded ribbons; red and blue which correspond to the two tracks that the player is able to simultaneously or individually manipulate, as well as a red one between these two, used to insert samples. In addition to hitting individual notes and samples, players are also challenged to scratch on command by pressing the appropriate button for the track and sliding the turntable up or down as indicated on the ribbon. The game also provides players with a chance to turn back the clock on earlier action via its "Rewind" feature. This ability is monitored via the rewind meter that levels higher with successful play, and and when full allows the player to rewind the song to fix errors in their earlier performance. The reward for precision is the build up of points, which can be temporarily doubled via euphoria power with the push of a button on the mixer end of the controller. Rule the Hottest Parties In the tradition of Guitar Hero, which brought gamers into the world of rock ‘n’ roll, DJ Hero places players in the DJ booth at some of the hottest clubbing scenes from around the globe. Party in venues reminiscent of real world locales from around the globe including an ultra plush and sexy Hollywood Hills style mansion, to an open air beach club in Ibiza. Play Modes Although DJ Hero contains engrossing single player game options, including a career mode, much of the action in the game surrounds its wealth of multiplayer modes. These include both online and offline multiplayer competitive and cooperative modes: including DJ vs. DJ, DJ + DJ and DJ + Guitar. Set List The DJ Hero set list is constructed of 100 songs, crafted into more than 90 two-song DJ mixes. These mixes are the product of both the creative talents of internationally known DJs such as DJ Shadow, DJ Z-Trip, DJ AM and Daft Punk, and the game development team. All songs used are new to the Guitar Hero family of games and are pulled from a wide array of genres, including pop, grunge, soul, R&B, techno, hip hop, and house. The full track list includes:

I bought this from 360la for less than $30. It's marked as brand "New"... If you're buying this for yourself, no worries. Everything is inside the package. It'll be fine. If you're buying this for someone else as a gift, reconsider buying this from the seller 360la. The packaging is basically like the clear wrap stuff you use to cover food or leftovers. The box isn't ripped up, but it definitely looks used and worn out. I took a picture of the packaging and sent it to my boyfriend, and he replied saying it looks messed up and it looks used. I took it out of the clear wrap and opened the box.. It comes with everything and it also came with a cartoon dvd of superman as some kind of free gift from the seller. I didn't expect a brand "new" product to look used and have a random dvd inside of the actual box which contains the turntable. The biggest flaw is that it looks used. And it should be marked as "used like new" instead. I could have bought a used one for much cheaper if I wanted a used one. Luckily, it's for my little brother so I doubt he'll mind. But it just looks like something I found at the flea market because the edges on the side of the box are dirty and feel worn out. I wish someone would have warned me.

As with any game that comes with a new controller, DJ Hero (for the Wii) takes a bit of getting used to; specifically, the "slider." The tutorials are very helpful, but because of certain odd difficulty inconsistencies, Progressing from the Medium difficulty level to the Hard difficulty level can be a bit of a nightmare. Having said that, I do like this game. It's very fun to play the songs over and over again, just because the music is good. Some of the songs are certainly more fun to play and listen to than others, especially since a couple of mixes just seem a bit off in terms of what got smashed together (Beastie Boys' Sabotage with Foo Fighters Monkey Wrench is particularly jarring..., and all of the songs by Scratch Perverts are barely even music.). But otherwise some pretty catchy tracks.
So as a rundown so far, the game is fun and very re-playable, and it's fun to try and get good at harder difficulties...
The negatives, which don't ruin the experience, per se, but are still a bit of a bother: First, you can't ever lose. So there's no real reason to improve. You could also just zip through all the songs on an easy difficulty to unlock everything with no reason to struggle to improve onto the harder difficulties. I'm working on getting better on the "hard" setting, now, and because I've gone through everything on medium, already, I keep forgetting where I've left off, as I don't actually have to unlock anything else. And, boy, is that hard difficulty setting quite a step up over the medium level. Lots of more fun stuff to do, but the very quick slider "spikes" are nearly impossible to get right. Wouldn't be a problem in real dj-ing, because the sound would just be what you made it; it's really more of a controller problem, as it is just very difficult to move the slider part of the dj hero controller accurately enough in time with the music. Perhaps it's just me, though...
Also, I don't know about the other systems, but on Wii, when choosing new characters and outfits, and their decks, loading times is pretty laggy. I've already moved on to the next character or two by the time the one I was on before finally loads, and then it changes again because I've moved past him... and a few of the songs have skipped or "stuttered", which makes playing a game in which timing is key a bit difficult. Haven't tried online matches(because I bought the game in 2011; probably not much of an online community anymore...), but it's still fun alone. It's annoying that in single player, on the rock tracks that guitar playing is available on, that you still have to look at the computer-played guitar "highway". And I was shocked that there is basically nothing to download, and they're a bit overpriced (300 wii points per song?), without much to differentiate them from what's on the disc, already (basically all the same artists with some different song choices mixed together... nothing that really got me itching to download...). Lastly, my wiimote doesn't fit very well into the cradle box at the top of the turntable, so it just sticks out while I play...
I didn't want to make it seem like the problems bog the game down, but they exist and are just a few negatives to a game that is a lot of fun and I'll probably pull out to scratch on for as long as I own my Wii. Give it a try if you've fairly dexterous and like mashed up music.
Oh, and really anyone can play this game; there are the baby-est difficulty settings for all types. My roommate started on the lowest difficulty, and you just press ANY button vaguely in time to the beat...

This is such an awesome game! It's hard at first like guitar hero, but in no time I picked it up quickly. Even my friends who don't even play video games played it, loved it, and were pretty good at it. There are some awesome remixes, and don't be fooled that theres only 3 buttons. Throw in the crossfade, scratching, directional scratching, and a number of different moves, there is a serious challenge. The crossfade seems a little loose at first and it's hard when you have to switch between left and right back to the middle. I sometimes found myself overshooting, but you'll get a feel for it quickly. The controller feels very sturdy, and can be switched around for left handed people. You also can't fail out (which is great for beginners) and you can also enable "party mode" if you just want to hear a remix, and not have to play it.
Theres really not a lot of drawbacks, there isn't really a "quest" mode or story mode (not that any of the guitar hero games really had one) you just pick a setlist, get stars depending on how well you do, and those stars will unlock dj's, equipment, costumes, new setlists. There are TONS of songs, and you can make your own custom setlists to play!

PRODUCT IS OK: Bought this for my son. He will love it, but he is young. The songs, lyrics, and design are for older teens however, and I would suspect they would be a bit bored and disappointed as the "game" itself is simple (just pushing three buttons). I thought there would be more distinction in the sounds when scratching, or pushing the buttons, but that really isn't the case. The songs continue their recording regardless of what you push.

I bought this game for my wife as I usually need an excuse to play a game or two. I was hooked and played through the complete game in a few days. You can move from the first level of difficulty to the second one within a few mixes. Switching to the medium difficulty introduces the fader option which i find is the only negative part of the game. The way the fader slides from left-center-right does not feel intuitive and I end up moving it to far or not far enough.
This game will keep me entertained for a while. I am a little unclear about how many Wii gamers there are as you might have to wait a while to find anybody for the online challenge option.
Love it and hope they keep it around for a while
