NO BUMPS AND SCRAPES
An unprotected drone could hit obstacles during long distance flight or when descending from an inadequate height in Return to Home mode. The Mavic uses FlightAutonomy technology to sense obstacles up to 49ft (15m) away and allows the Mavic to bypass them or brake to hover, reducing accidents.
Satellite positioning can only help a drone hover in an unobstructed outdoor area free of interference. Without satellites, the drone will not be able to position and become susceptible to drifting. However, with forward and downward vision sensors, the Mavic can hover precisely indoors or in places without GPS.
STAY FLYING LONGER
The Mavic is only 1/6th the size of the Phantom 4 but this reduction in size doesn't mean a reduction in flight time. The Mavic actually flies much longer than you would expect from its compact size. It is capable of reaching an absolute maximum flight time of 27 minutes and a maximum distance of 8mi (13km) due to its powerful, high-efficiency motors.

Beginner pilots often have trouble flying in a straight line because they aren’t familiar with joysticks, which then makes shooting smooth video tricky. The crash happened when I flew out to the Long Island Sound to about 12000 feet then turned around with the battery on the Mavic indicating 70%. The Mavic did not get to 40mph only a constant 20mph in sports mode while on it's way back and only gained speeds of 10mph at RTH without any notifications of high wind warning. The battery gradually decreased where it wasn't enough to return and landed in the water. I spoke to my other friends about this and they confirmed that they are also experiencing the top speed failures. There is a whole blog about this on mavicpilots.com. I've never had any of these issues prior to the updates. The Mavic only flew 19.05 minutes with a new battery and could not return from half the distance which was 2.2 miles and not what it'is described in the manual (4.3 miles). DJI support got back to me after a week blaming it on the wind.
After an excruciating month with DJI support I didn't get anywhere with getting an explanation on why I had no back-wind and why there wasn't any high wind warnings when I lost my drone. The support for this company is far from U.S standards. This is one of the many e-mail conversations I had with the head of support from their headquarters:

In 17th April 2017 's email, you asked for the coupon code and didn't "clearly stated that I want something higher then 15%", or before applying for the coupon code, we will explain to you that is not possible.
We understand that i personally made a mistake in last email when sending you the coupon code, however that doesn't mean according to the analysis we will offer you 100% off. Do you mean that in life if someone personally makes a mistake, he or she would have to compensate by offering replacement? For me, if you are here, i will be pleased to sending you a card and a flower, or something else. Again, i am terribly sorry for the mistake, however i am not able to get higher discount. If you go back to the past emails I clearly stated that I want something higher then 15% since I was never explained why I had no backwind and no high wind notifications. Also, after talking with support they offered me a 30% coupon.

The way I see it if you get a good working drone and you never have to call DJI for anything then you one of the lucky ones. Beware of the updates they put out since there is no explanation on most of the changes they make. Test out the drone after every firmware update and stay in close range. I lowered the previous 2 stars to 1.
Now my drone is in the repair process which I'd like to lay out for you, from my experience and from the words of DJI employees.
I sent my drone in on 4/14/2017. It wasn't received until 4/27/2017. That's 13 days just to ship it to them (have to assume at least another 10 to get it back). The damage assessment process takes 1-3 business days and the repair process takes another 15 business days. So now we're looking at a total turnaround time of at least 5 weeks. They also have no program for a loaner drone while yours is being repaired. I'm using this drone for my videography business, and I am losing money every single day it's not in my hands.
I called customer service to see my available options, and after being very polite and attempting to get in contact with a supervisor who may have some leverage, I was placed on never-ending hold, that eventually disconnected, 3 TIMES. Once I started taking names and employee numbers, they finally connected me to a supervisor (after another 40 minute hold period). After a total 2.5 hours on the phone, I was finally able to speak to the supervisor who said "Sorry, you're just going have to go through the process".
I am boiling over in anger over this. I spent $1300 on a broken product and they have the nerve to not send me a brand new one. There is not a chance that I will purchase another product from DJI, it's no secret that they are mistreating their current customers and only worried about acquiring new customers. A simple google search will should confirm my entire review, as I am not the first who has been through this mess.
