DJI has a US service center in LA but you will not be able to talk to anyone there, the 818 number goes straight to a call center in the Philippines where the employees seem to know much less about their product than you do.
I love the image that I have gotten out of the X5S camera and was excited to use it on an Osmo, but now it appears that DJI has scrapped plans to make one for it and taken it off their website.
DJI makes the Phantom 4 Pro, which in my opinion, is a more durable, more dependable, more stable and better flying aircraft with far better range.
As a professional, I would rather know I'm getting the shot in H264 then risk not getting the shot in ProRes or RAW.
DJI should stick to the consumer market where they produce the best products.
Without being too dramatic, the word brings out a lot of feeling with the word aloe. Some people imagine actual drones in the Military shooting infantry (or maybe civilians) but when we say drones we are usually talking about you DJI Phantom 3A, 3P, 4, 4P, Mavic, soon to be Spark, Yuneec Q6500, Typhoon H, Breeze. These are the "Photo Drones" anyway. There are a ton of different form factors and the quality of the video can vary quite a bit from bird to bird, but it doesn't matter for this review. I am not talking about those. FRT, I think you get the best picture by far through the P4P 1"CMOS out of the ones I named.
So we are talking about a different type of cinematic machine. The Inspire Pro V1 never QUITE got there. With the advent of the X5R and the SSD abilities, it was getting A LOT closer. The X3 was a joke and really with the Inspire 1, you got the skeleton of what one day will be a real automated cinematic tool for a Oscar Award winning film. It has arrived in the Inspire 2. And I am not some goofy vlogger (AND LISTEN TO ME GOOD, I do a lot of work in the real world and those vloggers [about the photography part} sometimes say things that are absolutely wrong, not just a little. Find out who is right and listen tot those people and forget the Tom'S Tech Time's of the world. It's a joke and you're it] but the Inspire makes films.
It makes good ones if you know how to do just a little color corrections. It sure in a beautiful CineLike or you can do what I would prefer and use a sequence such as "Cinema Raw DNG Sequence) as it's ALWAYS better to get the meta data that the Cinema DNG RAW gets you.
With the power of the Power Distribution in ties thing, you could run a disco. It has a distribution board that might as well be a distribution dox the way it do perfectly handles the electric signal through this. Unlike, even thought it looks so similar, it is much more Matrice like in that you can make options upon options and really get the set up you want and because this is Professional grade model from DJI they made it PERFECT.
Listen, they know this is not their bread and butter, They will make 100000x more with the Mavic than these but call it trickle down innovation. They only deliver the real good to the ones who are willing to pay for all the R&D they just did, plus it creates an atmosphere of an ecosystem, much like Apple.
I use the Ronin on an S1000 with an Alexa and have been for so many years and why would I use a company with different solution and philosophies on calibration and stabilization. Well I wouldn't. Se even using the Phantom 4 for things like grabbing trails for tracking, or for maybe a quick insert (and please save the 'Scorsese used a GoPro on what shot' because you're not Scorse and he probably didn't.a And if he did so what? I am talking about a real tool for making films that is not now where we have to put the Dragon on a Ronin on a S1000 so that I can get the shot without a helli. I can do it with this.
I have already created go to LUTS that take the X5S version of this and makes it look IDENTICAL, nobody could guess, I checked, to an Alexa that cost nearly $40,000. The democratization of editing, VFX has happened and it has finally happened to cameras.
No longer are the ones that need to rent or buy multi-million cams. Now we can do it without tracked even.
Don't know why people talk about zoom desire so much. We are not filing 70' porn. We are creating movies I am either using one of my Alexas or on of my Reds and the ONLY camera that I FINALLY trust when I don't have time to set up tracks and do a dolly shot (I don't need any friggen dollies). I put my camera on my bird, and I let it fly perfectly stable to the near inch and being stabilized to the near centimeter and it almost looks too stable. It's better than any stedicam guy I could higher and definitely better than dollies but n a track.
The fpv camera so two can concentrate not the shot DUH?!
Occusync in case you wan to shoot somewhere far away, I have never needed range so I guess that would be good for a documentary or maybe if you were permitted to an area and I sometimes forget some people have money just to buy toys like this, Lol.
I could go on and on, spec by spec as to what this is a film making tool but I think if you're here shopping, you've done your homework and I just don't have the time. Ask people that have them specific questions. IT IS NOT PERFECT. It's still pretty new and I have had my problems but I can tell you with assurance that we get better treatment at DJI than when I call because of my Mavic. I think that's fair actually. I paid $9700 and looking to spend more on mine. I want to be taken care of.
Good luck with whatever you do. Make Art. Make Movies. Make What's Inside You. The Tool is Just To Help That..
