A marvel of engineering and design
Mavic Air was built to go wherever adventure takes you. Inheriting the best of the Mavic series, this ultraportable and foldable drone features high-end flight performance and functionality for limitless exploration
3-Axis Gimbal Camera
The Mavic Air is the most portable DJI drone to house a 3-axis mechanical gimbal, with its angular vibration range reduced to 0.005°. Set in a triangular formation, gimbal dampeners help create even steadier shots.
32 MP Sphere Panoramas
In addition to Horizontal, Vertical, and 180° panoramas, the Mavic Air stitches 25 photos together in just eight seconds to create crystal-clear 32 MP Sphere panoramas.1 View them from an immersive perspective with DJI Goggles.
4K 100 Mbps Video
The Mavic Air shoots video at an incredible 4K 30 fps, recording at 100 Mbps to capture every second with UHD quality.
With support for recording 1080p 120 fps slow-motion video, the Mavic Air captures all your epic high-speed adventures.
New HDR algorithms help you obtain the right exposure settings intelligently, according to lighting conditions. Overexposed or dark areas are processed for more natural transitions between highlights and shadows, while DSP acceleration allows for more efficient shooting.
Expressing geometric precision, the Mavic Air's arms fold flush against its aerodynamic chassis. Magnesium alloy brackets reinforce the seven onboard cameras, rear vents dissipate heat efficiently, and the primary gimbal camera is recessed for better protection.
3D Foldable Design
As tall and wide as a smartphone when folded, the Mavic Air is an ultraportable drone that stretches the boundaries of what's possible for a device its size.
Foldable Remote Controller
The dedicated remote controller uses a foldable, low-profile, ergonomic design to hold your smartphone for maximum convenience. Detachable control sticks store inside the remote controller to pack more comfortably on the go.
8 GB Internal Storage
In addition to a Micro SD card slot, 8 GB of internal storage let you save photos and videos directly to the aircraft and export files through its USB 3.0 Type-C port.
ActiveTrack can sense up to 16 selectable subjects simultaneously,2 letting you choose the right tracking subject. With higher tracking precision and broader scenario applications, ActiveTrack follows targets even when they're running, jumping, or cycling.
Choose from six different QuickShots — Rocket, Dronie, Circle, Helix, Asteroid, and Boomerang. All are just a tap away and will get you those epic selfie drone videos without needing to think about composing your shot. Share your new creations to social media through the DJI GO 4 app instantly.
Fun, simple, and intuitive, SmartCapture offers a new and interactive way of controlling the Mavic Air by hand. Launch and control the drone with hand gestures, then take photos or videos however you like.
FlightAutonomy 2.0Using advanced VIO technology, the powerful sensor system in FlightAutonomy 2.0 consists of a primary gimbal camera, forward, backward, and downward dual-vision sensors, downward infrared sensing system, IMU redundancies, and a group of computing cores. Together, they collect and transmit information from the surrounding environment to the high-performance processor for more precise hovering and better flight performance. Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems (APAS) allow the aircraft to bypass obstacles in front of and behind it actively. Your grand adventures of discovery have never been so safe and easy.
Max Flight Time: 21 min
Mavic Air Intelligent Flight Batteries are made with high-density lithium, offering a substantial flight time of up to 21 minutes for all your adventuring needs.
FOC ESCs and Propulsion
The application of FOC sinusoidal drive architecture ESCs provides the Mavic Air with a smoother motor commutation process and high overall efficiency of both motors and ESCs.

I bought this for a vacation that I took because I wanted to get some great aerial shots - this is my first drone that had FPV capabilities and a gimbal and I had about two days to learn how to use it.
First off - the flying conditions were not ideal. The temperature hovered between 92F in the morning and 113F in the late afternoon. As the operating limit is rated at 104F it caused problems. I did try to fly it but had all sorts of interesting problems and couldn't get it to really take off so I abandoned that approach and just flew it in the early morning and late evening.
It flew great. Even in windy conditions it was very steady and some of the videos were just fantastic. As an example, I added a video that was taken just after sunrise going up and over 150' tall trees. The footage is rock steady and exposed really nicely (no color correction in this shot). As a side note I used an ND8 filter on the lens from f-stop labs Lens Filters for DJI Mavic Air 4K Camera Lens Multicoated Filters pack Accessories (6 Pack) ND4, ND8, ND16, ND4/CPL, ND8/CPL, ND16/CPL by Fstop Labs.
Once the drone gets more than a hundred feet away you really can't hear it at all anymore.
At one point I was flying out over the water, about 100' from the boat I was on and it lost signal completely. I freaked out as the drone was over water at the time. Fortunately the return to home feature worked - sort of. It got the drone back over the boat but would not land it. I had to grab the drone mid-air and pop the battery out. Everything worked fine after a reboot of the control but that had me very concerned. I did not have any other problems with it but it seemed like such a random problem as I've flown the drone over 4000 feet away with no issues but only a hundred feet? And there was no way to "re-connect" at that point that I've been able to find. I'll have to do some more reading up on it.
Additionally, my phone got very hot (Samsung Galaxy 8 Edge) when controlling it. It wasn't terrible but I also couldn't put my phone in my pocket when I was done.
At some points the video lag was pretty bad - that made problems worse because the drone was so far away I couldn't easily tell what direction it was facing so getting it back to me was hard because I couldn't see it in all cases (trees in the way for example).
The quickshots feature was not working at all when I did it. I tried to, for example, get a point of interest quickshot (where it circles the selected item) but instead of keeping the boat as the focus, it drifted off to circle around a patch of water which wasn't very interesting. I was never able to get any of the quickshot capabilities working at all.
I'm happy that I go this drone (about $1100 for the drone and the case (Smatree Mavic Air Carrying Case for DJI Mavic Air Fly More Combo,Waterproof Travel Hard Case for Mavic Air Drone) and filters). Was I thrilled with the lag or loss of communication no. Would I buy it again? I think I like the more powerful signal capabilities of the Mavic Pro and I would probably get that drone if I had to do it again specifically for the occusync transmission. However, the gimbal on the Air is much more sturdy than the Pro so maybe not. It's a tough call and I really do like the drone and hopefully I'll be able to fly it for a long time to come.
Compared to a spark: this thing is smaller when folded up, has a much better camera, and longer flight time.
Compared to a mavic pro: this thing is smaller when folded up, the bag they give you with the combo package looks less dorky, and i personally think the camera quality is better. Also, it has sensors in the front AND back where the mavic pro only has em in the front. (Less inclined to run into something.
Compared to the p4p: it is much much much smaller, the camera is not as good as the camera's sensors are smaller and only half the fps as that of the p4p. However it is about 2/3 of the price.
