This lady was FBI and she doesn't even know #1 her "dad" isn't her real dad and #2 that her real dad kidnapped her sister and the parents and the police know this!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then it turns out not real dad is a serial killer and mutilating children and after its found out her mom is like ok what happens next? Then 5 mins later Eva Rae gets a call that her daughter is found, she asks mom to watch the kids and shes all "ok but don't make this a habit I'm not a babysitter" Like really your husband of 40 years is a serial killer and was doing all this in your house and you are not even surprised or freaking out. Her friend getting beat up by her mom was a joke too.
The only drawback was the punctuation. Half of the question marks should have been periods.
I received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary review. Thanks Willow!
Eva Rae has recently been through a divorce which wasn't pleasant--she quit her job with the FBI and moved with her three children back to the town where she grew up and where her parents still lived.
She managed to stay out of the investigation until the day one of her best friends came to her door with a woman --her child hadn't come home-the woman was frantic but for reasons you might understand she could not go to the police.
Meanwhile Eva Rae's children were acting out--big time. Her old boyfriend's son (she didn't even know he had a son) went missing. They found the son's mother dead----then Eva Rae's daughter runs away from home----Divorce can be really hard on children. Everyone of the missing children had parents who were divorced.
Would they catch the elusive kidnapper/killer? Who it is will stun you as all the lies from Eva Rae's life were revealed to her.
This is definitely a book worth reading!
The local police have come up empty on leads. So Matt Miller, a law enforcement official and also Eva Raes' ex, goes to talk to Eva Rae about helping them find Sophie. The storyline grabbed me from the start and kept me reading through every twist and turn. This story kept me on the edge of my seat! The chemistry between the characters was thrilling! I didn't expect the ending!!! I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series! I highly this book!! I enjoy reading books and reviewing through an arc program. 💖🐧💋

Three months later, her body is found inside her sleeping bag in the most frequented area of Cocoa Beach, and the town is outraged.
The girl isn't just any child. She's the town's most beloved surf idol, and it was believed that she could be the next Kelly Slater.
As another child, the son of a well-known senator is kidnapped, and the parents receive a disturbing video, FBI profiler Eva Rae Thomas — who has just returned to her hometown, divorced and out of a job — plunges into the investigation, breaking her promise to her children not to do police work again.
Local law enforcement, with her old flame Matt Miller in charge, are the ones who ask for her help in a case so unsettling that only she can solve it. But the deeper they dig, the deadlier it becomes for Matt and Eva Rae. Soon, everyone she holds dear is in grave danger as this case hits a little too close to home.
DON’T LIE TO ME is the first book in the Eva Rae Thomas Mystery Series and can be read as a standalone.
This is the perfect start to the author's new series.
We have the new character FBI profiler Eva Rae Thomas who has her own problems at home to deal with.
Thrown into the mix is her old flame Matt Miller.
Wonderfully developed plot with twists and turns.
I can't wait to see the next installment of this series.
Highly Recommend reading!!!
Read this book and can’t seem to grasp how something devasting happens to the main characters family and the next day everything seems to be forgotten
Eg I need to go out to day can you look after the kids mum , really after what happened yesterday ,no one in mourning or traumatised it’s liketomorrows another day forget the horrors of the previous one
Sorry I need a more realistic story in a book this was silly
Eva Rae Thomas has moved back to her home town with her three children.
She was an FBI Profiler.
Now she had to start again.
When a child has gone missing, she can’t help but find out what was going on. She knows the cops and when a dead body was found, she gets involved.
This is a book to keep you awake at night.
I couldn’t put it down!
I’ve already bought Book 2.
The only thing was I read it on my kindle and the book finished on 87% which was a big disappointment as I didn’t expect it to end so abruptly.
