"Dream, Garden, Grow!-Musings of a Lifetime Gardener provides Lee's experienced gardening knowledge and tips to help new gardeners, mixed in with poignant family memories and insights into how she grew into her second career."
"
Dream, Garden, Grow!-Musings of a Lifetime Gardener, by Lee Miller, chronicles Miller's meandering pathway to designing gardens. A science teacher for thirty-two years, Lee started noticing a passion for gardening with her own Long Island landscape. After retirement, Lee turned to horticulture, becoming a landscape designer, award-winning garden blogger, and author. Dream, Garden, and Grow! Musings of a Lifetime Gardener provides Lee's experienced gardening knowledge and tips to help new gardeners, mixed in with poignant family memories and insights into how she grew into her second career. Chapters range from mulching, garden seasons, and botanical nomenclature, to moon gardening, gnomes and folklore. Miller also gives advice on indoor plants and offers up plant selections for Zones 3-9. Dream, Garden, Grow-Musings of a Lifetime Gardener is a straightforward yet simple read for anyone looking to start down their own garden pathway."
~Teresa Watkins is the host of
In Your Backyard gardening radio show My 790 AM, landscape designer at Sustainable Horticultural Environments and author of A Gardener's Compendium: Gardening in a Twitter World in 140 Characters or More, Volume 1-Gardening with Life and Volume 2-Gardening in Time and Place.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spoiler Alert: Chapter 10 Really Jazz'ed Me and Got Me Going!
By Cbreeze on February 13, 2021
This 155 page book is easy to handle, easy to read bit-by-bit, skip around and read what resonates with you at the time, or read cover to cover. You can use what you need to research more OR what you want to implement. You can sit back , relax and focus on the musings, as the subtitle says, "Musings of a Lifetime Gardener." I respect the twenty-five years' worth of experiences Lee put in to the book - as a landscape/garden designer, consultant and garden blog writer. She shares planting tips and techniques, along with memories of gardening as a child. She shares legends and an array of information about her favorite flower (also happens to be the 2021 Annual of the Year, Sunflower!) History and background in the chapter titled "There's No Place Like Gnome" give you an idea about Lee's ability to share insights while tying those sentimental experiences, to accuracy in tracing the history of these little garden statues. Twenty-five years of tips, and experiences flow seamlessly through this book - and it would be interesting to see what you gain and implement when you read DREAM, GARDEN, GROW! For me, back to the Spoiler Alert, it was the Moon Garden information in Chapter 10! I had been curious about Moon Gardens, and thought this would be a monumental task to start one, but reading Lee's info from mentioning monochromatic gardens, and even Sissinghurst, I took her suggested plant list and turned pages in my Winter Heap of seed and plant catalogs, and selected what I'd like to start with, after all, Lee said so! I recommend this book for it's accuracy, accessibility, and for all the energy Lee wants to share with her readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read, and great stories
By Cathy Boyd on February 24, 2019
A wonderful journey into the world of plants, gardens, and a lifetime of adventure in nature. Lee captures gardening stories that will entertain you and educate you at the same time. Congratulations on a gardening book that will make a novice like me feel good about anything I grow, in the garden or in a pot indoors. And for the advanced gardener, there's always more to learn here.
