The writer Jacob Chance is totally new to me but after seeing the cover and reading the blurb of ‘Drive’, I was very curious about this story. I found ‘Drive’ an enjoyable and easy read.
Because I have never read a book of Jacob Chance before I didn’t know what to expect, so the beginning of the book had me (personally) a little confused because I expected an arrogant football player and not this charming, young guy who still was in college and who was much more than just a football player. I just had a totally other idea of the story in my head after reading the blurb and seeing the cover but it certainly wasn’t a bad thing because I liked the story very much.
Carter thought that she knew how her future looked like. She would marry her boyfriend and be his perfect political wife. Carter did everything she could to be Joseph’s perfect girlfriend so she’s very shocked when she discovered that he has cheated on her with a friend of hers.
So when she meets Nick for the first time, she’s still recovering from a bad breakup. She doesn’t know who he is and she doesn’t want to know his name. No, for once in many year she wants to be impulsive again and what is more impulsive than kissing a stranger? And what a kiss it is!
When she discovers later on that Nick is not only a few years youngers then her but he is also a good friend of her sister’s boyfriend, she decides to keep her distance but she didn’t counted on Nick’s stubbornness to get to know her!
After that one kiss they shared Nick can’t stop thinking about Carter. So he finds ways to get close to her. He even makes sure that she moves in the same apartment building where he lives. Slowly Carter is falling for Nick but Nick knows that he has to be careful because one wrong move will have her hiding from him. Can a guy that never had a relationship before convince a girl that was hurt by her ex-boyfriend that he’s the right guy for her? Only time can tell…
The story gave us both POV’s, which I really liked. I liked Nick very much, he was a good guy who just hadn’t met the right girl until he met Carter. I liked his charming character, the way he was with Carter and the fact that he wasn’t this obsessed football player. Just like his friends, he was this young guy who was searching his way into life. Carter was also a character that I liked.
I loved the ending of the story. ‘Drive’ a sweet story, perfect if you just want to relax and read an easy light story. I will read more books of this writer in the future.
Nick O’Shea is a star athlete on the football star on the college team. Being scouted by the pro NFL teams, he is also being pushed by his dad to “make” the pros! The other thing is that Nick has just found his passion with MMA, a sport his dad disapproves of. The other thing about Nick is he’s also the life of the party kind of guy. His outgoing, joking and carefree way is loved by all. Yet Nick is at a point n his life where he wanted something more. He wanted someone who “gets” him not the one-night kinda girl!
Carter Murphy is the polar opposite. Still reeling from a major breakup with her fiancée, after finding him with her now former pregnant best friend, she is majorly uptight. She had always been the one with her future mapped out and done what was expected of her. The pretty in pink good girl! Maybe it’s time to cut loose a little.
At her sister’s engagement party while watching all the festivities around them Carter ponders the idea of “what if.” What if she decided to live a little recklessly or be a bit on the wild side? So, going for it she grabs a stranger, who turns out to be Nick, and plants a hot as hell kiss on him and then disappears! No names, just a kiss that neither one of them can forget. No manes, no numbers, it’s just a one-time thing!
It months later when they happen to be run into each other again. This time at her a wedding. Not only that but when Carter finds out that she has no reservation for the hotel. Being the nive guy he is, Nick steps in to help her. Yep, you got it they end up sharing his room…after all it has two queen beds in it. ~wink, wink~ And now the angst gets turned up a little.
What was there not to love about that guy? I mean, he is so totally thoughtful and kind? Not only that but he is head over heels in like/lust/love with Carter remembering their kiss. Let me tell you that Nick certainly stole my heart! Nick is so romantic, he’s thoughtful, he’s kind and sexy as hell!
It’s so easy to get #Nickstacted! Great book Jacob!!
