Nice general-purpose converter that can handle any of your DC->DC conversion needs at fairly high amps. I got two for my portable electronics toolbox so I can use pretty much any handy DC supply to power whatever I happen to be working on. Solder a couple 'gater clips to the inputs and another set to the outputs and toss it in your bag of tricks. I've used them with small 12V solar panels and/or a supercap battery to power various electronics projects at everything from 3.3V to 24V. Just adjust the pot to dial in exactly the voltage that you need. I haven't approached the 25W/3A limit so I can't speak to any "high power" uses, but for the small electronics projects I typically work with it is perfect. It can even handle enough power to run a small motor or solenoid.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it won't soft-start. If your DC source drops too low the unit switches off and will need to be reset. This is probably meant to be a safety feature and there's a jumper on the board that you can wire to a switch or something to make the reset easy, but I wish there was an option to make it start automatically. In one application I had a solar panel driving a circuit directly (through the converter unit) without a battery. This was fine as I only needed the circuit to work during the day. Problem was that I had to rig a separate circuit to reset the board when the sun came up. That or go out and do it manually every morning. Minor problem, and easily solved, but..

The first unit did not work. There were solder on the pads and it looked used. I contacted DROK. DROK responded quickly by sending a replacement. The replacement arrived today. There was not any solder on the input/output pads. It worked well as described. I'm happy with the product for my purpose. There aren't many buck-boost converter that can provide 5V, 3A output like this DROK unit.

I received the unit in a nicely sealed proper ESD bag. Awesome. I was expecting one of those pink zip locked static bags, so being properly sealed was quite nice.

I attached a 12 volt power supply to test the unit and it did quite well with the voltage. The adjuster is quite sensitive, I had a little trouble getting to an exact voltage, but once I managed to dial it in, it did a fairly good job at keeping it at the desired voltage. From where it was set, the most it dropped was ~0.02v, so a slight tolerance was needed for testing, but given the price, it managed to maintain the desired voltage quite nicely, even at ~2 amp pull from a USB tester.

If I had any complaints, it would probably be that the hole on the pad for attaching a wire is a little small, and that I will likely have problems trying to attach a solar panel to this given its thicker wiring, but I used alligator clips when I tested it, and will probably just clamp the wires that way, so it won't be a permanent installation if I do use it for solar, as I originally planned to.

All in all, I really like the unit, and I will end up getting more of these if I have use for more than just one.

At first I had a little trouble, but the fine people at DROK helped me out.
My suggestion is, load the thing before setting the voltage.
I was adjusting the voltage of the first one, and it went ballistic, blew the supply fuse, and emitted smoke from the board.
The second one I loaded it with a small lamp, then I set the voltage. It worked much better.
Working great now, the coolest thing is, no matter what your supply voltage does, the output remains the same
I am using this on an off grid system to supply device that needs 13,6 volts to be happy, no matter where the battery voltage goes down to 11.7 in the early morning, or 14.8 volts on the absorption charging phase, the output is very close to the 13.6 volts the board is set at. It does run a few degrees above ambient, but not bad at all.
Minus one star because the first one broke, second one is doing a great job.

This was purchased in order to use two AA batteries to power something like a Yi Smart Camera (WiFi IP Camera with 2-way audio) that's been stripped down and configured to be a streaming webcam carried by my cat who would be carrying the camera and batteries by means of the Metpet Walking Jacket.

The specs look fine. It performs fine but it's a bit large for my application, and I'm going to see if a much smaller board from this vendor will do the trick. All I need is the set-up function. And the output need only be at least 4.5 volts and no more than 5.5 volts.

Won't turn on with strong, steady 3.3V supply. Brand new Energizer AA Li-Ion batteries run the load easily without this regulator. Board won't even turn itself on. Board does work - runs like all the other comparable units when fed 12V from another power supply. Specs say 3 volt min. - not true, at least not this unit. Did not give it 1 star - it did run like all similar boards - just another average unit. Also note that there are no terminal connectors - just solder tabs.

It does not show high efficiency. I did some measurements and max. eff. is 77% when voltage at input and output are the same. Also it is hard to start when is in step up mode. Actually I have to start in step down mode and then shift to step up to get it working. Is it defective???
