Most digital zooms use electronic cropping to get closer to the subject, resulting in unsharp images. With Clear Image Zoom the powerful processor compares patterns found in adjacent pixels and creates new pixels to match selected patterns, resulting in more realistic, higher-quality images. Clear Image Zoom doubles optical zoom for closer photos. Optical SteadyShot image stabilizationOptical SteadyShot image stabilization reduces shake and blur by countering camera movements in both horizontal and vertical directions. Active 3-Way stabilization adds digital rolling control that counters clockwise and anti-clockwise rotation, resulting in more stable videos even at long focal lengths. The HX300 uses a second lens group shift which moves the lens group farther away from the sensor. This results in an expanded compensation area, allowing for easier framing. 20.4 Megapixel Back-illuminated ...

Yes, I would recomend it to a friend.
I decided to buy this camera simply because I was looking for a competent, light-weight alternative to my Canon EOS DSLR, which generally involved lugging around a heavy gadget bag full of interchangeable lenses on my frequent globetrotter trips, and I wanted an extreme zoom lens for occasionally shooting birds, wildlife and other targets of opportunity at significant distances. Adding a Canon super-telephoto lens to my inventory would have further increased the weight to be carried, not to mention that it would hardly have been cost-effective considering the questionable amount of use I would have gotten out of it. After scouring the reviews of the Canon SX50, Panasonic Lumix FZ200, and the Sony DSC-HX300, I chose the latter, ultimately because I had always loved my now almost "ancient" Sony DSC-R1 with its priceless Carl Zeiss optics. I've only had the HX300 for about 3 weeks and have not been able to test it extensively in the field, i.e., on one of my trips, which often yield thousands of photos. Rather I've used it indoors, in front of the house and in my back yard and on short drives. Thus far, I can only say that I have not been disappointed. The Carl Zeiss f/2.8-6.3 24-1200 mm Vario-Sonnar T* optics produce tack-sharp images, especially at the shorter focal lengths, but even my moon shots that I eagerly attempted almost as soon as I got the camera out of the box, turned out to be unexpectedly good, especially after improving brightness and contrast in Photoshop a bit. AF is fast and precise even in low light (although holding the Moon in steady focus initially proved a bit challenging), color rendition is excellent, and the camera is especially competent in the Intelligent Auto mode. In fact, even though I prefer shooting in either aperture or shutter priority, depending on lighting conditions and subject, I found that using intelligent auto often produced better results. I do miss being able to shoot in RAW, but the 20.1 MP Jpeg images are generally exceptionally crisp. When they're not, it's always my fault, not the camera's. I have not shot videos with the camera, except to try it on a CNN TV newscast, and the image quality, again using intelligent auto, under these low-light conditions, simply amazed me. i did not want to make this a lengthy "technical" review because of my rather limited experience with the camera at this time, but I may update it later, after my next "photo safari."
The panoramic setting worked great in the mountain areas, the back light setting worked great on the night safari where I took pictures of zebras, lions, and elephants.
Provider: Excellent option as provider, really kind and customer care. Thanks for everything, I entered the wrong address and they put in contact with me and make all the arrangements to keep tracking and shipping on time.
So I think Amazon still owes be a proper camera bag and I don't consider my order fulfied. The screen protectors seems of low-quality and I hope they haven't damaged the beautiful view screen that came on the camera. Also I don't understand why to cleaning kits were cents instead of a more useful item like a lens cover cord to attach to the cabin
