I am sure it will work fine, but since it is not as pictured, I will have to test and verify. The 3v3 header is not as shown in the pic
3v3 is not easily obtained without hacking the case. Installing your own headers/wire
Kinda defeated the purpose of getting what I thought was a unit ready to use.
The drivers are provided by SiLabs and seem to be updated regularly for new versions of OS X, Linux, and Windows. After downloading and installing the drivers from SiLabs.com things are (almost) ready to go.
When connecting this dongle, be sure to connect TxD to RxD, and RxD to TxD (transmitter to receive and receive to transmit). Remember to connect GND on the dongle to GND on the Raspberry Pi or all the characters will be garbled.
You should NOT connect the 5V and 3.3V power on the dongle to the Raspberry Pi.
On the Mac, I launched the terminal app and within the terminal app, on the command Iine I typed "screen /dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART 115200" (without the quotes, to connect to the Raspberry Pi.
The console login prompt should now appear.

DSD TECH USB to TTL Serial adapter with FTDI FT232RL Chip instead of an adapter with CP2102 chip.
I received my item in 3 days and I made a huge difference. This time got the right kernel and boot logs thru Putty and Minicom. Highly satisfied with it. Just make sure to set the jumper to 3.3V before you plug it or you can fry your UART port or GPIO connectors if you use 5V instead. If you have a XU4, be careful because it requires 1.8V so this USB-to-UART won't work.
It did work great with my Raspberry pi 4's and NanoPiM4V2 as well.
If you are using Odroids to communicate thru UART port, I'd recommend to use an official USB-to-UART from Hardkernel. If not, and you're going to connect thru GPIO ports, this will do the trick.
Dank der beiliegenden Kabel schnell ein altes Ladekabel geopfert. An die entsprechenden Kabel angelötet fertig.
Und deutlich günstiger als das Originalzubehör
I was re-flashing a Sonoff POW R2 and this was made possible, and an easy process, using this USB/serial TTL gizmo. Obviously software to do the flashing was required; I used ESPtool, again it all worked fine.
