Thebook is a good read and an accurate description of the world of a Thai barworker. It is very hard to come to terms with how bar girls live as ourcultures are so very different. We may have met at the same place but we tookvery different routes to get there. There is very little common ground to buildupon. This book gives a real insight into their lives, hopes and aspirations.
Iwould recommend this to anyone with a Thai girlfriend, not as a warning but asa help in understanding her life. If it saves one argument then it`s money wellspent. I think it would dispel a lot of prejudices if more people read it, ifonly those with prejudices cared enough to buy it.
Ifyou ever do a sequel put me down for one.
From the Author
I began collecting stories from the Pattaya bar girls: ones that my girlfriend translated for me and those that they told me themselves in English. These were not interviews as such, but I did take mental notes that were transferred to a notebook later - without any names, of course.
