After reading about Lily, Dahlia’s twin, in the first three books of the Gilded Flower Series, I was always curious as to who Dahlia was and what she had been through. There are small glimpses and allusions to something that happened in her past but as the reader, you never really know what happened to her. Well in the first installment of Dahlia’s story, Blue Dahlia, you get exactly that. Dahlia is living life and loving Rodrigo, her sexy Latin man, and starting to plan a life with him, to establish a future and move to Miami. Dahlia is all in, or so she thinks, and has just one loose end to tie up. She heads to sunny California where she meets with her past, a haunting past in the form of one sexy surfer boy named Shane. We come to find out that Dahlia and Shane shared a life together, a blissful few years in which the beautiful artist and sexy surfer lived, loved and planned to start a long and happy life together. But tragedy struck and Dahlia ran away, leaving a confused and heart broken Shane. She left her family to clean up the mess and determined to move on in her life. Yet revisiting her old life and seeing Shane again opens old wounds but brings a deeper love of life and understanding than she has been able to find in years. As they rehash the past and tentatively step into the future, we see a couple so in love and lust that they cannot help but be together forever.
This book was a surprise to me. I was not expecting this turn of events in the story. In the previous stories from the Gilded Flower series, Dahlia and Rodrigo are so in love and lust that I could not see them anywhere but together. Yet as she interacts with Shane and begins to heal from past wounds, I firmly believe that her place is with him till the end. Her character was so much more vibrant and alive with Shane.

I really enjoyed Lily's trilogy, the first three novellas in the Gilded Flower series, but I think that I enjoyed Blue Dahlia a little more! Perhaps it's because it's the beginning of Dahlia's story, and I didn't get as much of her as I would have liked throughout Lily's books.

Blue Dahlia was a quick read, and I totally devoured it. I enjoyed learning more about Dahlia and her past, and it was great getting inside her head. The differences between her and her twin sister Lily are more vivid now that we are getting to know Dahlia more.

Once again, Vivian Winslow gives us a novella that has an entertaining and engaging story line. The characters are easy to connect to (especially if you have read the Lily trilogy), and the sex scenes are romantic and extremely steamy!

The one thing with this novella that I didn't quite understand was the ending... It wasn't bad, and there wasn't really a cliffhanger - which I was expecting to set up for the next installment. I felt that this novella ended too abruptly. It felt like the story was just cut off.

BUT... Don't let that deter you from reading it. I can't wait for the next book in Dahlia's trilogy to find out what's next for her!

4.5 +++ Stars!!!

<I received and ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review>

This book was a perfect opener to the series. I was intrigued from the first chapter. I was patiently waiting for this book and was not disappointed in the least with it. WARNING: this is a cliff-hanger. I have issues with cliff-hanger’s in the fact that, I don’t like them. I have a tendency to forget to read the rest of the series when a cliffie is involved. This does not happen with Vivian’s books. She gets us the next installment very quickly.

We were left wondering what happens with Dahlia in Lily’s story. Dahlia takes us on an emotional roller coaster from the beginning of this book. I loved Rodrigo in The Gilded Flower Series. I was thrilled when Dahlia found her someone. Well without saying too much I love SHANE!! He is the perfect fit to Dahlia so loving and kind. This book tugged at my emotional heart-strings. This couple has been through some tragedy and I even let a little tear or two drop on my kindle screen.

As with Vivian’s other series books I am waiting for the ball to drop. What will become of the couples? I am dying to know right now!!! Please keep Shane!!

Vivian can write some steam and her books have the perfect amount of description. I am a huge fan of her work.

4.5 stars you ask why? I felt Dahlia caved a little quick from what I have read about her personality in the first series. But I do understand why she has some serious love for Shane that is unresolved. Please keep Shane!!

I would recommend this book to all of you. I would also recommend The Gilded Flower Series so you can get Dahlia’s personality and just enjoy another great series. I will be patiently waiting book 2 in this series. Hurry Vivian!!

This is the second half in The Gilded Flower Series. In the first half you read about Lily, Dahlia's twin sister. This half of the series is all about Dahlia.

I feel like I've been waiting forever for this trilogy to be finished. I didn't even want to start this one until all three were out because I knew I would devour them. I love Dahlia. I honestly didn't know where it would go with this sister. She's a bit of a wild one. Tiger Lily had ended mentioning Dahlia's past. I was not expecting what I read. I really wasn't expecting how it turned out either. I loved Rodrigo and I was sure they would be together through this whole trilogy. Boy was I ever surprised.

I love the start to The Dahlia Trilogy. I started to read Black Dahlia but had to immediately stop to write this so I didn't get anything mixed up because Black Dahlia starts with a freaking BANG!
