When Jolene was brought out of her coma, she knew everyone, but she could no longer walk. She was not her jovial self, and both she and Carolina had a hard time dealing with the changes in their lives. Later when Jolene was released from the hospital, she was wheelchair bound. Church people had gone to the home and built ramps and did other things to make the home wheelchair-friendly. One of the puppies, Cupcake, was loaned to Carolina and Jolene to give them comfort in their home. Jolene found it very enjoyable to go for a stroll in her wheelchair, and she and Carolina started doing that regularly. Nolan was also trying to remodel the restaurant for Jolene to come back and work from her wheelchair.
Will Jolene and Carolina adjust to and accept their new way of life? Will Jolene ever be able to work again? Will new possibilities come up? Will Carolina's hopes for college and a future in politics be dashed? Will Carolina ever accept Levi as a friend and possibly more? You must read this angst-filled, but refreshing book to learn all the answers. Disclaimer: I purchased this ebook. and all opinions expressed are my own.
I did digress a wee bit but I had to pay tribute to my fur-babies, they make life so much more enjoyable.
Carolina has realized her dream of going into politics as the youngest intern in Washington DC. She is just beginning her new career when an urgent call from home u-turns her life back to Charleston and to her Mother - Jolene who was in a near fatal car accident. Carolina is a planner and having her life turned around and then having to worry about how her Mother will manage now that she is in a wheelchair has stressed her out, not to mention the hot guy who came to visit her Mother - Levi. Pastor Adam and Abigail move into action bringing in one of the tiny church dogs to help Carolina and Jolene overcome their stress.
Cupcake was just what both women needed. I have to give praise to Carolina for changing her life for her Mother, so many people would get their relative through the hard part and then go back to their lives. I would do the same thing for my Mother as she has given up so much for her children and guided us to the people we are today.
If you want to read a good book about the bond between a Mother and Daughter then this is the book for you. It is also nice to have it interwoven with the love story of Carolina and Levi.
