It's a little touchy but I was fishing in some pretty rough surf. Durable feeling rod, dont worry about the other reviews saying the reel stop is flimsy, just dont overtighten it and you'll be fine. All in all a great rod for the money!
I was very skeptical about buying a surf rod for $30, but I am shocked by my initial inspection of this rod (should this change, I will update this review). The rod lies true and straight and the two pieces interlock easily (surprisingly, this can be an issue with cheap multi-piece rods). The materials appear to be free of defects and the two pieces look like solid, tough glass blanks. The grips on this rod are solid, and it has a nice rounded end that could be comfortable to lever against your inner thigh if you don't have a fighting belt. I plan to pair this 10' Beefstick with a Daiwa Emcast Sport 6000 reel (I plan to run braided line - I will edit this review with my opinion of that setup). I intend to use this for catching bait in the surf (mainly whiting) and will bring it when I fish the lakes in Central Texas, in case I want to rig something up for channel cats.
PROS: Feels like a $100 rod.
Strength (time and salt water will tell)
Craftsmanship for the price
Assembles easily and straight
Guides appear to be well crafted
CONS: None yet (will update if needed).
