Product description

With a stark, modern appearance, the handsome reels are modestly priced with an abundance of design and engineering features. The LT body (light yet tough) is constructed from a carbon-based composite that is much lighter than conventional materials yet very durable. With a much greater strength to weight ratio, the reels are lighter and can be handled without fatigue over the long course of a full day’s fishing. The spool design features the Advanced Ballistic System or ABS. This technology utilizes a reversed taper to pay out line in bigger loops reducing outgoing friction and improving casting distance. The oversize spool also holds more line and can exert more pressure on hooked gamefish. The Air Rotor and Air Bail are carbon composite designed lighter and stronger than conventional designs. Smoothness of operation is assured by 6 ball bearings and a roller bearing. Rarely in the spinning reel market can you find a reel modest in price yet loaded with state of the art technical and design features. The Daiwa Legalis LT is that reel.

2.0 out of 5 stars Smooth, light, but size is 1 size smaller than the usual Daiwa size and it's quite flexible...

Good Daiwa quality as always, super smooth, super light weight.

But, the spool size is 1 size smaller, got the 3000 series, it's the same size of the 2500 of the BG and Ninja. See picture to compare. Not sure why Daiwa would do this as it causes a huge confusion of the sizing especially when you are buying online.

In addition to the size, the spool stem is quite flexible, I haven't fished it yet, can't tell how bad it feels in action, but noticed the significant flex wobble while I was spooling it from a tensioned rig. Not feeling good about it. It actually flexes twice more than my tiny shimano sienna 1000.

However, I'm gonna keep it as I was debating myself whether to get a 2000 or 3000, now the size is smaller, I guess I can go along with it. plus I wasn't planning to use this for heavy fishing, probably just some stream fishing, it'll do ok, flexible problem probably not going to be too bad for stream fishing either. for the price, I'll keep it.

But steer clear, I'll never buy another LT series ever again. Spend a tad more to get the old non LT series or just get go for the BG, much stronger build, I feel more confident in those. I mean, unless you are willing to trade rigility for extra weight reduction, you might like it.
