There are no saponins in this grain. For best results, toast prior to cooking. 1 cup of Kaiwa needs 2 cups of water, simmer over low heat for 15 minutes. The grain will pop and the outside germ will separate into a curly tail. One cup dry yields 2 cups cooked.

A little goes a long way. I ate it alone, put it in smoothies, added it to my oatmeal. Very good . The taste was not what I expected.
It has no sugar so it is grainy. But you can use it in soup, rice, or a salad and it doesn't change the taste of what it is added to.
It took over three weeks to receive.
Nothing wrong with Angelina's Gourmet Kaniwa. Tough to beat War Eagle's Oatmeal at one-tenth
the price. Would not buy it again at this $13/lb plus freight.
