There's a 'but' coming... and that is, the only complaint I have was the lack of editing. There are multiple typos in this book and it could really use a good couple of passes with a copyeditor. The use of a comma preceding the word "before" EVERY single time is unnecessary and distracting. Overuse of the word "towards". Missing apostrophes or ones in places they don't belong (cats head should be cat's head, etc.) Also, the dedication at the beginning was a bit off-putting, almost didn't read the book... but in the end, I'm glad I did, because it was a good story and this author is a good writer. I will go read book 1 now, as it seems I've skipped ahead. This book can be read as a standalone.
When the call came in, it was devastating. I wanted to punch Nick for pushing Katie away. But you know this military man is strong, brave and proud and just didn't want her to see him as weak or pity him.
Loved the story and theme...everyone is damaged or broken but it's how we put ourselves back together that matters.
I wasn't expecting things to go the way they did and when they did go south I cried like a newborn babe.
Nick and Katie are so damn cute and perfect for each other. I wanted to smack Nick when he messed up but I could understand where he was coming from, and I also can see why Katie felt the way she did especially with being a mom. Our little ones come first and we will try to protect them with our everything.
I loved the bond the author brought to life between Abbie and Nick. It was beautiful.
Scattered Pieces was my first book by this author and I liked it a lot but this one, this one I LOVED. It just touched my heart.
Broken Pieces here I come.
I am drawn to characters like Katie, I'm not sure why, maybe it has to do with showing that single mothers can be strong, make it through basically anything, and find love.
