Awesome style. The Stowaway closely resembles my 5.11 TDK (tactical duty kilt). Only differences are this obviously have more pleats and made from heavier material, whereas the 5.11 is made from lightweight rip-stop cotton with way less pleats. I love that it's got slash pockets I ordered the medium/large which fits a size 40 waist (says so inside the kilt). I normally wear a size 38 but it's suggested you go up a size to make sure it isn't too snug... I think in my case I could actually wear a medium just fine.
DNKE Kilts have become a regular part of my everyday attire. Some people have even asked if I'm wearing some sort of "uniform." In any case, I usually get positive feedback from people. I get especially nice comments from women, ^_^.

MOST IMPORTANT BIT - I took the sizing advice to heart and measured myself at 78cm (~31in) in the waist. Bought the "Small" size (33"-34") because while one can always wear a belt to make bigger things fit, it doesn't work that way with things that are too small. I suggest you do the same so you're not stuck sending things back to get a proper fit. As it stands, this one fits wonderfully.
There are lots of great things about this kilt. There are quite a few pockets to stuff items in, though the non-buttoning ones are a bit small to be useful. The material is sturdy, the pleats are attractive, and several metal rings adorn the waistline so you can hang various things off them.
Like attention? Dress up even slightly (matching hose and a button-up long-sleeve shirt are usually all it takes) and suddenly everyone will be looking at you. Those bold enough to approach will inevitably have questions and comments for you - "What do you wear underneath it?" "Are you Scottish?" "Finally, a guy man enough to wear a skirt!" and such. I actually have a reasonable excuse for wearing kilts, as I do play the Bagpipes, but your mileage will vary. If you see this as a downside, don't get a kilt at all.
The only disappointing part of this kilt is that it buttons together. The simplicity of snap buttons is nice, but it lacks any sort of adjustability as a result. This isn't a dealbreaker by any means, but I much prefer kilts that come together with belts and buckles which allow fine adjustments to be made to different areas of the waistline. I knew this when I purchased it, so I cannot fault this kilt for its design.
I bought this as a "beater" kilt for hiking, lounging, and crazy nights at the pub. This thing tirelessly endures bitter cold and snow (regularly below 0C where I live) and is easy to clean if it gets messy. I couldn't ask for more.
EDIT: After washing a few times in cold water/drying on cool settings, the kilt shrunk, but only slightly. Much appreciated too, since it basically "tightened up the screws" on the fit for my skinny body. You'll definitely want to iron the pleats back to an attractive state after washing though - your sister's/girlfriend's/mom's/your own hair straightening iron does a surprisingly good job returning the pleats to their original form.

I work in construction, and have worn kilts for a long time. People always think it's funny to see a man in a kilt at a construction site, but after watching me work for a few minutes, their minds are changed. It sure looks a helluva lot better than these guys running around with their underwear out and their pants down. In addition, pants get hot, even short pants are hot or will ride up in the crotch. That's not a problem here!! Kilts should be mandatory wear.
Size: XX-LargeColor: Military GreenVerified Purchase
The color of the kilt that I received is the same as the military green pictured, unlike the military green sport utility kilt that I purchased, which was more of a Kelly Green. I am impressed with the slash pockets. I didnt think they would fit my hands or allow me to use the pocket clip on my knife, but they fit just fine.
I only have a few complaints; I am still disappointed with the back pockets. We bigger men have a hard time getting to them. I feel that they need to be moved one whole pleat each, away from the center of the back, or make them that much wider. It wouldn't hurt to move the cargo pockets that far forward on the xxl either. The belt loops are not as thick/heavy as I was expecting, from my previous experience with the Damn Near sport utility kilt that I have been wearing. This is mostly due to the way they are constructed on each style. My previous order was DNKE's sport utility kilt. The material making up this kilt is a completely different type from that of my sport utility kilt. It doesn't seem as heavy as that used on sport utility kilt. The sport utility was a heavy twill like that used on khaki cargo pants/shorts. This is much stiffer, more of a corduroy. The pleats don't return to their original position when I stand from a sitting position. instead they stand out some from my body like batman's ears coming off my legs. I have to constantly brush them down into their original position. I am reluctant to purchase another because I dont know what kind of material I will end up with.
I bought the "UT Kilts Men's UTK Standard Utility Kilt" from UT Kilt for what was then $55. I knew it wasn't the Utilikilt. Well, the first time I got it, I put something heavy in the only one of two pockets and it ripped the stitching out of the pocket. So, I had to sew it up. Fast forward to today. I bought a dark grey one from DNKE and wore it for my first ever event in Florida. Some people laughed, but I was very comfortable in the kilt. Plus I had a lot more pockets with the Stowaway than two cargo pockets from UT Kilts. It also felt more well built and more sturdy than the off brand name of UT Kilt. Today I am buying two more. One in a size up in case I fluctuate in weight, and another one for my wife who loves the kilt. I even got goosed in my kilt while at the bank by an old lady who commented, "I love a man in a kilt!"
5.0 out of 5 starsnot falling off me loose but looser then I am normally comfortable. the material feels good the weight was surprising

I got this for work clothing and because I wanted to try something a little different. it fits loose. not falling off me loose but looser then I am normally comfortable. the material feels good the weight was surprising. and not in a bad way far heavier then I expected. the garment bag it arrived in gave me a little chuckle. it should work fine for me though as I normally wear two t shirts ( one being a hi-vis with a second underneath) I will definitely need a broader belt though 1.5" just doesn't cut it. I will probably be buying more of these after seeing how this pans out.
sits perfectly at my waist. feels natural there. I will be recommending these to anyone that is considering a kilt. the quality matches the price.
I want to desperately love these, but I can't... I've worn this kilt like 30 times and it's so comfortable and the pockets are amazing but what a royal pain in the butt to keep the wrinkles down. If you sit they wrinkle in the front and back. I step out of my vehicle and spend 2 minutes trying to flatten the thing because its all over the place. I tried all the tricks I could find online and it doesn't help. They look amazing when you carefully iron them, then put them on. 10 minutes later... wrinkles everywhere... Too bad, it's such a nice kilt.
5.0 out of 5 starsIt's a kilt with pockets. You are into it or not, my review won't change that.

Obligatory comment about Follow sizing guide. love the pockets and the looks. Don't love the wrinkles, but that's canvas for you. Needed to add a reinforcing stitch to one of the pleats, not the end of the world for the price. I notice the current price is a bit higher than when purchased. Was a good deal at $80ish with free shipping, would not consider buying at double that. Still would get another in another colour, if they came up on that kind of deal again.
It’s a flipping sweet kilt, just look at it. When you buy this and it arrives and you put it on, you will look just like the guy in the picture and nobody can say anything to you because they don’t have a kilt and you do. My boss even lets me wear this at work, where pants or professional shorts are required. Wearing this kilt is like having a get out of jail free card. Buy it, wear it and feel the difference. Would recommend if you are I. The market for a solid, work horse of a kilt. Cheers from Canada

Having measured myself wrong the first time, I got the right size this time around. I love it. I'm not quite at"wear it in public" yet, as it's quite a shift, but I have it on after work most days. I've read complaints about hardware durability with this maker, and it's too early to tell yet but there are no glaring issues. Sometimes the snaps feel a little soft, but if you wear a belt it's not going to cause a crisis. I'll need to get it hemmed, their kilts are all 24" long, and at 5'6" it looks just a bit sloppier than I want. Still, a great introduction to kilts, and I've already ordered their tactical kilt for paintballing.
