C. Terry Cline, Jr.
Damon is a remarkable child. At age six, he can read minds and people perfectly. After his mother saw him touch her beautiful roses and they immediately died, she knew she had an extraordinary child.
She took him to Dr. Kyle Burnette, a psychiatrist, and to Dr. Ted Drinkwater, an internist. They were partners and noticed that Damon was maturing at an accelerated pace. A hormonal specialist was called in to examine the boy and placed him on a regimen to balance his growth. Both doctors were very protective of Damon and the Daniels, his parents.
As one reads this incredible story, we learn that the boy's sexual maturation goes beyond his years and this leads to many problems. Dr. Burnette determined that for Damon's protection, and possibly, society as well, he will stay at the clinic and be treated daily by both hormonal balance and psychotherapy.
Cline carries the reader to dark places unimaginable when the doctors discover an alter ego who is a monster. They cannot get any further than to know this ego is called "the Sweven." This book is about mind control, sexual depravities, disdain for the well being of a patient by another doctor, and finally, the unraveling of Dr. Burnette's own Sweven. A rush to publish this over-the-top child's abilities and others like him leads to suicide and murder. This is a book the reader cannot put down.
Damon's only true friend who has his best interest at heart is a female nurse that stays with him each night. In the end, she is the one, through poetry that realizes the secret that unlocks the Sweven's power.
This book tumbles to a tumultuous ending that the reader has no idea about the truth to Damon's secrets.
