I replaced them with standard DampRid bucket-type dispensers (DampRid FG60 Refillable Moisture Absorber, 2-Pack). They're not as designy looking, but they work. Don't use these.
BEWARE! Do not buy this product and support such a terrible design flaw.
Much to my delight, it works WONDERFULLY. Think I'll be buying others for my basement & closets.
Based on a recommendation from a Home Depot associate, decided to give DampRid a try -- and have been very happy ever since. We put the container in the room, and about every few weeks or so we dump out more than a cup full of water down the drain. The refills do the same job that the original pack did, and the room feels and smells much better now.
Guess we will have to figure out why the issue occurs (maybe need to replace the 13 year old windows seals?), but until then these do the job. Have been using for about 18 months now and it is easy to use and works. followed the directions and have not had any mess whatsoever... not even sure how it could be messy, unless you were to knock it over before emptying or something.
Get it if you need to get rid of moisture in the air.
Negative issues will most likely arise if method for use is: set & forget
On carpet, I line a small box with plastic to place the system in.
Every couple of days, a thorough inspection is done to see if dark or brown nasty has accumulated on absorption bag. (This hasn't happened yet.)
When water is nearly up to the Discard level, water is poured out, absorption bag is put in a plastic liner and tossed in the trash.
Vents are wiped off inside and out, inside is dried with a hair dryer for a few seconds, and unit is left to sit for a few hours to completely dry, before refilling and placed out again.
This is a good option when expense and noise preclude investment in a dehumidifier. Although, how much moisture you need to get rid of, is the bottom line.
When factoring in the refill bags expense, more $$$ would be spent on initial cost, plus monthly electric usage for a dehumidifier.
For me, noise in the bedroom is simply not an option. In the master bathroom, a convenient unused electrical outlet is not available.

Got this the first time (we're on our third) to remove moisture from a bedroom partially below-grade. Between this and a hanger unit in the closet, it does a solid job. Read morePublished 9 hours ago by Kyle H. L. Powderly
nice, I think we are going to like how it works, a week now , and there is some "water" in the bottom from sitting in our closet :)Published 1 day ago by Colleen Flanagan
This is OK but I won't buy it again. I will stick with the ones that you just throw away. Whatever this is that collects the moisture (and it does work) is very oily and no matter... Read morePublished 12 days ago by Amazon Customer
This product is easy to use and the costs of the refills aren't too high. We use them in 3 rooms in our house that seem to have more humidity. Read morePublished 17 days ago by JT
