About the Author
"Obsessive" or "driven" don't even begin to do her justice... Joanne wrote her first three books in 99 days, then went on with the labourious task of editing to make the story internally consistent. To keep herself sane during this process, she wrote another two books - the first one of which is Danann Frost Falls from Grace. Joanne firmly believes that having a Knight in Shining Armour ride in on the Deus Ex Machina at the last moment is no way to tell a story; she also believes that everyone should get what they deserve - good, bad or otherwise. Joanne has two children, a loving husband and a laptop with the letters worn off the keys.

Joanne creates a story that pulls you in from the very first page! The world building is fantastic and Joanne doesn't leave the reader wondering about anything. She covers every aspect with great detail, to the point where you can literally see the world she's describing.
Seth and Danann, the main characters, are absolutely perfect! Not perfect in the true sense of the word, but perfectly 'real'. It was extremely easy to relate to both of them, and I instantly fell in love! Their romance is beautiful, complicated, and far reaching, which makes this an extremely touching read. The emotions are raw and real, and I'm not ashamed to say that at certain points in the book, I was wishing I could reach out and smack both of them! Along with the supporting characters, who never overshadow the main characters, Seth and Danann embark on a journey full of love, trouble, and an emotional roller coaster.
I honestly tried to think of something that could be improved in this book. I like to give my readers both sides of the story by including any faults, but I couldn't find anything wrong with this one! I recommend this book to anyone 18 or older, and at the price of $2.99 for the ebook, you owe it to yourself to give it a try! You can read a teaser of the book on Joanne's website if you want to try it before you buy it, but I assure you... you will love this book!
As a self published author, Joanne is a master at her craft and I hope she will be discovered soon! I have spoken with her on occasion and she has informed me that she has another complete series written, just waiting for a publisher.
PUBLISHERS- you need to look into this author! I can promise you that you will not be sorry if you do!
My Rating: 5/5!!
Danann puts everything on the line for her beloved Seth when she chooses to fall from grace for him. She wakes up on Earth after the painful experience of being de-angelfied only to be separated from her soul mate because of a miscommunication. Danann finds herself alone and forced to live a life that she's not accustomed to. I imagine going from being an angel to a human is quite the adjustment! Unfortunately for her, she doesn't have it easy at all. Her new existence is full of tragedy and heartbreak. At first Dannan's new weaknesses worried me. She becomes very dependent on others and needs to rely on vampires for many things. She gives off a strong useless vibe, which for me in a main character is a bad thing! But in her case it works. This book is probably not for you if you're looking for a kick ass heroine. Dannan's strength comes from within. The author writes this book in such a way that you end up really grasping this fallen angel's reality. It's hard to know a person until you've spent a day in their shoes and this proves to be very true in this tale.
This novel really takes off when Seth waltzes back into Danann's life. I loved the extreme contrasts between the two of them. Their worlds are so different that it's hard for them to understand each other. All of the assumptions that people typically make about others don't hold up in their case. They have a hard time understanding each other's feelings and actions and as a result Danann and Seth often think the worst of each other. After having been separated for 200 years because of a flawed assumption they are reluctant to trust each other (with good reason!). Their minds and hearts are pulling them in opposite directions. Danann and Seth feel inexplicably drawn to each other but at the same time their preconceptions clash to the extreme. Many of their mistakes are obvious to the reader but Joanne Valiukas' writing style makes you understand why they're not able to see what's right in front of their eyes.
It's hard to put into words how much I adored this book. Danann Frost Falls from Grace is about overcoming differences, how dangerous assumptions can be and how in the end, love conquers all. The dark vs light imagery in this story is truly remarkable. Don't be fooled by the title and cover of this book because it's an incredible tale and when you finish reading it you'll find yourself wanting more.
