Editorial Reviews

"To Dance Again" is a refreshing, mature romantic tale! The strong heroine is a delight and has always tried to do the right thing, although compromising her own happiness most of the time. Once she reveals her past and realizes her daughter needs to know the truth, the story is a fast-paced and an enjoyable read. The past hurts and current medical issues of the hero add another dynamic to the plot that brings the story full circle... It's a wonderful cultural read that discusses delicate family matters with taste and dignity. Food, wine and music with dancing are an added bonus. Readers will be booking vacations to visit Puerto Rico! 5 STARS InD'Tale Magazine
OFFICIAL REVIEW Book Reviewed by Rachel's Willful Thoughts (reviewer) for The Romance Reviews "Author Hebby Roman delivers a sweet second chance at love set in Puerto Rico with TO DANCE AGAIN. Against a backdrop steeped in Puerto Rican culture, Maricel Cadona and Ramon Morales find themselves feeling sparks from the past. As the story moves forward, readers get a clear picture of what happened in the past while secrets are revealed. The story flows well, with plot twists that engage the reader. There's a heavy emphasis on incorporating Spanish words into the story, which enhances the flavor. With any second chance at love story, there have to be some obstacles and this author definitely earns high marks in that area. Not only do we see the fallout caused by old secrets, but there are potential life-changing decisions that have to be made. Full of engaging conversation and realistic characters, I found myself cheering for Maricel and Ramon as the years seemed to melt away." FOUR STARS

"Hebby Roman's To Dance Again is a quick read that brings two mature people back together for a second chance at love. As with any age, there are issues, ups and downs, misunderstandings and secrets, GAH, the secrets. I was so involved with their story... Two very likable characters, beautiful settings and years of life experiences while apart make this a welcome change in the world of romance. Sometimes love can be like a fine wine, it is either full-bodied and treasured or can go to vinegar, it's all in how it is handled. Hebby Roman has handled this one perfectly." by Dianne at TOME TENDER

From the Author

"To Dance Again" is a book of my heart. The idea for this book came from a real life situation with a cousin of my husband's who visited us from Puerto Rico. And the book is rich in Puerto Rican culture, too, showcasing the beauty of that tropical island.
It's a story about two high school sweethearts, who, after more than twenty years of being separated find each other again and how they handle the feelings they still have for each other.
The story is also one of secrets, both the heroine and hero are hiding life-altering secrets from each other, still caught up in the past and not knowing if they should trust each other.
It's an unusual romance with lots of real-life situations and challenges, as well as an exotic location. I hope you love reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Have you ever wondered what happened to that true love of your youth? Where did he or she go? Was family in their plans? Do you find yourself wishing you had been honest with them instead of hiding a secret? Who else was affected by your indecision?

Maricel has decided to return to Puerto Rico in silent hope of seeing her teenage love. She enjoys her visit with family relatives and starts asking questions. Ramon never knew about her pregnancy when her family forced her to move to New Jersey. And now she has told her daughter, Isabel, about her real birth father who is anxious to meet him. But soon she will find that Ramon has a secret of his own, which can be life changing for all those concerned.

Hebby Roman has again brought us the flavors of the culture and surroundings of the characters. Easy to visualize, the countryside, the food, the markets all come to life giving the reader a very satisfying journey to solve the mystery of secrets and hope for the future. This is a fast read and enjoyable story of middle aged love.

This is the first time I've read anything from this author. I enjoyed this story very much. I was able to relate to the mature characters and my Latina culture was represented really well.It was like reading about people I know. The story is about secrets, forgiveness and second chances. There were romantic and hot sensual moments between the protagonist that I had to finish the book in one sitting. I give it 4 stars!

To Dance Again is a wonderfully crafted second chance romance. When Maricel Cardona’s daughter’s friend is involved in an accident. When she gives blood to save her friend, she finds out the man she always thought was her father wasn’t. She wants to find him so Maricel goes to Puerto Rico to find her first love, Ramon.

Reading this book, I felt like I was experience the life and culture of Puerto Rico. I could smell the flowers, and taste the food. But what really captivated me was the story of two people reconnecting after 25 years and discovering the spark between them can rekindle their love.

Ms. Roman’s talented as a storyteller is revealed in this heart-warming tale of overcoming obstacles, time and reconnecting love.

I’m such a sucker for second chance romance. Throw in that the couple are older and I’m a goner. I adored this book. Well written, smexy times and characters that I could care about. Yep, I’m a goner.

Let me first say that the setting of the book is gorgeous. I’ve always wanted to go to Puerto Rico and I really felt like I was there. The food, smells and the music were all there. Not to mention a hot man named Ramon. What I really liked about him was that while he did have a big secret, he truly did care and love Maricel. He never stopped loving her. It was completely evident in the story. He was just trying to protect her. In fact, when Maricel’s secret came out, I figured that he would be more upset but he was very accepting of it.

Marciel was a joy. Yes, she was still in love with Ramon but find a new love and family back in Jersey. It was easy to relate to her and the conflicted feelings that she had in regards to Ramon and her late husband. I also liked her no-nonsense relationship with her daughter Isabel. Isabel just wanted to know her father and gave her mother some time to figured it all out.

The romance in the book was top-notch. It was a grown up love that had endured throughout the years. There isn’t much angst in the book except the secrets between them. While they added conflict, it wasn’t done over the top and it felt very real to me.

I highly recommend this book for all you lovers of second changes with an older couple. Ms. Ramon delivers in all aspects of the book. Writing, characters, plot and especially setting. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Ramon.

Browsing through the pages of Hebby Roman's To Dance Again, is like stepping through the gates of a paradise isle, where the warmth of the summer sun and a beautiful landscape of green mountains, waterfalls and tropical rain-forest awaits your arrival. The vibrant Spanish culture woven within it's storyline in mundillo lace and veigante masks to name a few, along with the exquisite Spanish delicacies like sorullos, alcapurrias, amarillos en dulce, and especially (I suspect it's an author favorite) pastels. The Spanish heritage is webbed intricately in entrendos and puntillas through every fiber of the tale so, we even get a bonus recipe of pastels, learning along with Maricel as Lupe teaches us all.
The main story revolves around Maricel and her first love Ramon.
After an accident reveals the true paternity of her first daughter Isabel, Maricel is forced to reconcile with the ghosts of her past by going back home to San Sebastian to unite Isabel with her father and, mend the wrongs of her bygone actions.
The most interesting part of the book is that though the storyline of hidden paternity has been thoroughly used up before, here the characters are not in their 20s and 30s, glowing in the spring of their lives.
The author has taken a huge risk in portraying Maricel as a woman in her 50s, whose youth has been long gone, bringing her now to autumnal days of the fall in her life. Instead of the usual humdrum, here is a character whose mental maturity reflects in the fine line and soft wrinkles on her face, but even facing that Maricel utters what every woman fells while standing on the twilight of their prime: who feels her body aging away but, in mind is still young, who wants to fell young, slim, and, perfect, dancing freely to the rhythms of her love.
