"Dance Dance Dance" is the best Chic album, because unlike other "Best of..." efforts, these are full length (either album versions or 12-inch singles). As another reviewer opines, that fact makes this compilation the best value for the money (or otherwise).
It is way TOO easy to dog out disco. But it was equally incredibly easy to dance to, to the point where it is almost impossible to sit still while this music is playing. The sound was infectious, which in part is why it is so regularly sampled even by "musicians" of today (I hope that home-girl Luci Martin and the rest of the group get their royalties from those today who flatter by their imitation!).
These are among the songs which made disco what it was. From "Dance Dance Dance" to "I Want Your Love", "Good Times" and of course "Le Freak", this has all their best. I cannot think of another disco group which had so many number one hits.

Disco got such a bad rap after its demise, and who would be surprised? Most of the mainstream hits were cheesy imitations of the Real Thing: Leo Sayer's "You Make Me Feel Like Dancin'," Rick Dees' "Disco Duck" and so forth. Chic, however, delivered the Real Deal, offering serious grooves and memorable basslines that would be sampled by every other rapper. This hits collection is flat-out perfect. Not only do we get the hits, but they're in their full-length, 12-inch versions. That's very important for a group that was a hit in the club scene. What's to dislike about "Good Times," "I Want Your Love," or "Dance Dance Dance?" Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers were geniuses, and Tony Thompson is one of the most overlooked drummers out there. Rock conniseurs may shake their heads in contempt, but old school dance lovers will know that Chic was one of the baddest groups around. It's time to recognize!

This collection proves the late 70s was a great time for dance music. Along with Giorgio Moroder, Donna Summer, Grace Jones and Saturday Night fever there was Chic, with their minimalistic but elegant grooves. My favorites on this collection include Everybody Dance, Le Freak (which was a sort of mini anthem), I Want Your Love, Good Times and Savoir Faire. These are the extended mixes, not the original singles, but that means more value for money! Something in the blend of tight guitar riffs, vocals and sublime arrangements just grab you; this is dance music you can listen to. And if you want more of the same, check out Norma Jean's album Saturday and anything by Sister Sledge. Bring back the Seventies!

I rec'd this album on May 14, 2015, from Amazon.com. It is GREAT to hear ALL of these songs, again. And they were released in the order that these songs came out.

I was happy that MOST of these songs were the 12' Extended versions, which I remembered when they were ORIGINALLY out.

My ONLY complaint is that "Soup For One" is listed as 7 min & 58 seconds, on my CD. BUT the version incl., here is ONLY 3 min. & 6 seconds. I would have rather had the EXTENDED version of "Soup For One", rather than the INSTR. song "Savoir Faire". being included.

Most of these songs cover a LITTLE bit of 1977, but ESP,. the years, 1978 & 1979. Although, I've heard "My Forbidden Lover" before, I've NEVER heard "My Feet Keep Dancing", UNTIL May of 1980... when "My Forbidden Lover" PROMPTED me to buy the "Risque" album.

And "Soup For One" was a hit single in 1982 & it also comes from from the 1982 movie soundtrack, called "Soup For One". Chic appears TWO more times, on THIS soundtrack, w/ their 1979 hit single, "I Want Your Love" & a cute INSTR. song called, "Tavern On The Green".

This album CD is very enjoyable & it's Jam Packed w/ memories.. And it's also HIGHLY recommended...

Contemporary critics are just now waking up to the fact that Chic were musical pioneers - Nile Rogers and Bernard Edwards created some of the most melodious, icily slick dance music ever heard. Great musicianship - first rate. All the big hits are here - and to understand the band even better, get "The Best of Chic II."
Classic music which was and is sometimes still imitated, but never has been quite equalled. Listen to "I Want Your Love," and "Good Times," as well as "Le Freak," and revel in the wicked bass lines and jazz-influenced guitar work that made Chic a true original. Excellent!

This collection contains some really superb tunes from the height of the disco era. Even music fans who cringe at the thought of some of the more outlandish songs from that time period may have to admit that Chic was producing some very high quality material that transcended the genre. I am only giving this compilation four stars because the sound quality is disappointingly thin and weak. This may be due to limitations in the original recordings.

If you're looking for a Chic greatest hits, you will miss 'You are beautiful' from 1984, because this compilation concentrates on the seventies, in which Chic was indeed at their best. However, all their 70s hits are featured here in their full length album version, and 'Everybody dance' is even included here as 12 inch mix.
The CD inlay tells the whole Chic story and is very informative. However, it contains a fault in the track listing: 'Soup for one' last for only three minutes, the label states it is the full 7.58 version.
