Kaylee is a cyber specialist and Mick is a covert ops agent. They work for the same organization, and Mick is tasked with getting Kaylee and her intel back home safely. That's when everything goes wrong....
Mick and Kaylee have great chemistry and were both very likable characters. They and the suspense of trying to figure out who to trust and who not to trust kept me turning the pages and not wanting to put the book down. I was torn...I wanted to get to the end as quickly as possible because I had to have answers, but yet I didn't want the story to end.
If you like romantic suspense stories I highly recommend this one.
Mick O’Halloran is given an assignment he’s not happy with. Kaylee Thomas is impressive with how tech savvy she is. She just may show Mick a thing or two. Not long into the book before the action and suspense starts – had me on the edge of my seat. And it doesn’t stop until we come to the end – so sad.
Mick’s team are men of action but mystery surrounds Kaylee’s. They seem to work well together but watch out for the heat between Mick and Kaylee. What hooked me in regards to this book was the suspense – it’s like chocolate (an addiction). Anything besides the mystery, action, adventure, and all the suspense was just extra. It was very easy to get lost in that adventure and forget everything else while I concentrate on where this author plans to take me. The ending seemed happy but I felt as if their story isn’t over yet. The Devil You Know recently came out so I look forward to see what our author has in store for the Ares Team.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Meet Kaylee Thomas and Mick O'Halloran.
Kaylee escaped from Madrid with deadly secrets in tow.
Mick is a covert ops agent for Grimaldi Global, he's leader of the Ares team and now he has to babysit Kaylee. He's not happy about that.
They meet and have this crazy insta-chemistry, sparks fly.
When a assassin shows up, Mick and Kaylee go on the hunt.
This book has everything I love in a good book. Spies, high class hacker, enemies, twists and unexpected turns, a captivating story and great characters.
I really liked this book and give 4,5 stars. Thank you, Katherine Garbera.
Dance With The Devil really smacks you in the face with action, danger, suspense. I loved how exciting it was and in between the danger the heat and sex was SCORCHING and just added to the incredible story.
Dance With The Devil gets a ROUSING FOUR AND A HALF SHOOTING STARS!
This is my first experience reading Ms. Garbera. I have to say I did like Dance With The Devil, but it felt like it was lacking a little in the suspense and romance department.
I liked Kaylee, Mick, and the covert ops team that Mick runs. Though the characters weren’t overly impressive and all felt a little flat. I didn’t see any depth into them. No background history and very little is talked about their team or the camaraderie. I like to get to know my characters and I didn’t feel like I got that.
As for the romance well they had the lust, but I never felt the romance. Kaylee and Mick are thrown together and act on their attraction and the stress of the situations. They don’t have time to really get to know each other, to get the deep connection, and yet they both see past all the outer stuff and into the heart of one another. I wasn’t buying into their romance. Lust, yes… They had that. Their moments together where oh so steamy and filled with some tension.
As for the plot well I had an idea within the first chapter on who was betraying Kaylee's team and the covert ops guys; before it was an indication and found out. The story was slow going, though the heat between the couple was their, but things didn’t get exciting until around the last 80% when Kaylee gets herself kidnapped. (Rolls Eyes) She already new that this team member was betraying them, yet she goes off with said person, alone...
Something else that bothered me was in the beginning after Mick and his team pick up Kaylee's team. Mick clearly didn't trust Kaylee or her team. He took their electronics away, but something happens and he lets them have it all back, so that they can do their computer thing even though he has a suspicion that someone on the computer geek team is betraying them. (My thought during this scene was the betrayer can make contact and tell the bad guys the plan.) So why do this when he clearly didn’t trust them???
All and all I wasn’t overly impressed. I enjoyed and had a delightful time reading, but I probably won’t be continuing with the series anytime soon. It wasn’t bad. It was just predicable to me and the characters didn’t make an impression.
