1999 was a great year for club music. With major releases by Basement Jaxx, Cassius, Moby, Chemical Brothers, and countless other artists, Dance Party 2000 seems strangely out of place. The song selection itself is strange, with no real method, and a good portion of this music is more top 40 than house. The transitions between songs are absolutely abysmal for the most,as smooth as chopped gravel, and rather obnoxious. This is probably the single most average example of DJing I've heard on record, also displaying just how fine the line is between a true artist and a merely competent one. For those who are looking for an entrance to club music, this might be a safe purchase, but to anyone familiar with club music, this will prove to be yet another boring, faceless mix that you've heard 100 times already.

No one ever said that a dance mix had to be perfectly put together. The tracklisting for this mix is a lot better than most of the other CDs out there (last time I heard N Sync ballads and Natalie Imbruglia in a club mix...?) Yeah the mixing is bad but it was all done on computers and not everyone has access to a professional mixer either. Some of the best dance songs in the world are on it -- "got the groove," "skin," "stomp to my beat," etc. the track listing that they have on amazon isn't the right one. BUY THIS CD!

I own this CD series from 1998 to 2003; in my opinion this one is by far the best . . . and by best I mean the CD with the most favorable cuts on it. I can play this entire CD straight thru and not get bored. There are a couple I could skip, but 2 out of the 16 songs offered here makes this a hit. In each of the other albums/years of this CD franchise, I can pick out select favorites (maybe one or two per CD), but most of the songs on this CD contain bouncing, foot-stomping, hip-shaking beats that make you feel you are in a club and gotta boogie. Not a disappointment here; as dated as this CD is, my favorites are downloaded onto my MP3 - - they include: Got The Groove; Skin; Heads High; Unspeakable Joy; If You Could Read My Mind; Lick It; A Woman's Got The Power; You Don't Know Me; and Stompin' to My Beat (a Jammin' tune!). This represents more than half of the songs here, so I had to speak up for this particular 2000 Dance Party Jam.

I loved this CD! It has alot of my favorite club songs that I heard dancing last year on it. I use the music for dance classes and love Stomp to my beat! That is a fave of mine. I wish that there were more good compilations like this. I had been looking for some of the songs on this cd but had not been able to find them until now.
