The romance of love crashing through class barriers is nicely drawn, both characters having to be courageous.
Victorian London came alive in the story, from the lowest saddest streets, to the fleeting glamour of the theatre and on into the giddy heights of society. Beautifully described and believable.
A classic historical romance with well-handled melodrama, suited to the theatre setting.
*Full disclosure: Nicole is a friend, a fellow member of the Romance Writers of Australia and published with Escape Publishing, like me.
It tells the story of Liette who years for freedom, security and love, but none are offered on the stage of The Imperial Theatre where she dances. Enters Lord Evander Gainswith, who never expected to fall in love, let alone with a woman, like Lisette.
It's a delightful love story to enjoy in an evening!
Then she meets Lord Gainsworth. Like Lisette, he too wants a happy future, despite the wishes of those around them. For in Victorian England, society has its expectations and it is not easy to stray away from the constraints imposed on them.
With its striking cover, this book is a lovely, gently historic romance. It makes a nice read for a rainy day. The characters are not fully three dimensional, and I would have liked the aunt to be a bit more evil than portrayed, but the story was enjoyable nonetheless. With great descriptions about the ballet scene and some good conflict, this was an easy, quick read. A lovely little story indeed.

Gene: Historical Romance
Cinderella meets Swan Lake in this Victorian-era
set story about a ballet dancer, an aristocrat, and
their class-crossing romance...
Lisette yearns for freedom, security and love, but none are offered on the run-down stage of The Imperial Theatre. Instead she has hard work, a tyrannical aunt, and the hope of one day becoming a prima ballerina. Dancing on the stage she catches the attention of two powerful men: Lord Gainsworth and Lord De Vale.
Lord Evander Gainswith never expected to fall in love, let alone with a woman so wholly unacceptable to his family and his peers. The sinister Lord De Vale covets Lisette's youth and strength, and is willing to pay well for it. Lisette may dance roles in fairy tales and fantasies, but the real world is about to intrude, bringing with it the harsh realities of life for a young girl with dreams of rising above the demimonde.
What a enjoyable light easy read with a hint of danger and murder.I really enjoy reading Nicole's romance novels. She is fairly a new author to me and what I have read of her books so far I have really enjoyed so far.
The plot was interesting story about a Ballerina's journey to stardom where she found love and true friends and
an odd collection of individuals she called her
The two main characters Lisette and Lord Evander Gainswith were like-able and easy to connect with. Also I found the one they called Uncle a cheeky sort of follow who I really loved. There were two villain's of the story
Lord De Vale -which I could not wait to see his downfall and Lisette's Aunt which I absolutely despised. As you can imagine they on the other hand I could not wait to see there comeuppance.
Favorite character would have to be Evander as he really surprised me and became the man
I thought he was all along.I must say I had my doubts but he impressed me.
Lisette was the biggest surprise of all.She was this meek little thing that turned out to have some spunk and backbone after all.She was willing to take chances to create the future she truly deserved and not settle for the one society accepted.
The story had a interesting plot with danger and murder and a touch of romance. The story was engaging from beginning to end.The plot had many surprises and unseen dangers that lurked around the other Ballet dancers along with some really big secrets that came to light.
I love a romance where a couple decides to follow there hearts and choose to be happy and fulfilled instead of miserable and alone .Throughout this story we saw great growth of both characters Lisette and Evander.I have to say there were some sicking surprises that were righted which made me very happy. The other characters of this story added just what was needed to make this such an enchanting tale.
Looking forward to seeing the other stories that Nicole is yet to create.
A Recommended read to all.Be sure to check out Nicole' other books as well.
