What a surprisingly good CD !!!

I bought the Sanjaya CD about a week ago from Amazon and listened to it in my car driving to and from work. The more I heard the songs, the more I liked them and found myself humming them.

I am rating this CD 5 stars. I also love the art work on the cover and the notes inside from Sanjaya.

The Sanjaya haters will obviously rate this 1 star...no surprise there. They will never give him credit for being in the top 10 on American Idol and making a CD.

Don't let past thinking close your mind....I really liked "Tell me who I am"...he comments on how he feels about people who judge him and makes it sound GOOD! Tell me who I am? He's about singing...being an individual in his own groove...again sounds GOOD!
New beats..good runs..great vocals...Rainy Day was my favorite! All were good, different from the Norm...opens up a new area in Music!

Waiting on the "real" album...

If you love or like Sanjaya, you should buy it.
If you hate Sanjaya and want to make fun of him, you should buy it.
If you are unsure about Sanjaya, you should buy it because it is cheap so you won't lose much if you dislike it.

The best song on the album is "Rainy Days". That psuedo latin sound and depressed feel! Very nice, cool groove. "Quintessential Lullaby" is also interesting, unique. "Tell Me Who I Am" is a joke... It is funny though. In the song he sings about how a lot of haters don't really know the real him even though they think they do. I am pretty sure he is singing badly on purpose on the song to emphasis the meaning. "A Guy Like Me" and "I Got It For You" are good songs for the teen fans as they are rather boy-bandish.

I hope this is just the beginning and I hear more from Sanjaya in the future.

I recommend only listening to it on high quality equipment because the sound quality is such that you cannot get the full sound effect on lower quality equipment.

(I changed my review because I do not think I explained how I feel about the EP well enough.)

The Greatest Musical Opus In The History Of Recorded Music

Do I really need to explain? Sanjaya is the Second Coming of popular music. His vocals? Perfect. Every song here is a masterpiece.

What about Sgt. Pepper's? Way better than that. Better than Dark Side of the Moon? Miles beyond. Pet Sounds? Forget about it.

This CD is essential to your understanding of popular music at the beginning of the 21st century. When the human race has come and gone, perhaps another civilisation will visit our planet and find a dusty old copy of this CD and truly wonder at the beauty and greatness of the human species.

My Favorite Idol EVER!!!

Sanjaya is my favorite idol contestant on American idol ever. I have been waiting for this album since he was on idol. It was really worth the wait. I don't care what people say he is very talented and he really stays true to himself and his culture. I think that is very admirable. I hope he comes out with more music. I like every song on the Album my favorites are "A guy like me", "tell me who I am" and "I got it for you". This Album shows his true talent. You can tell he worked really hard on this album and gave it his all. He will always be my favorite AI contestant. I think the critics are very wrong. They don't give him the credit he deserves. I think many will enjoy this album. You should give it a chance and put your prejudice against him aside and at least get the free song. I would give this album 10 stars if I could. This album is great. Its incredible how much he stood to himself and didn't chance his personality and how his album doesn't sound like every other contestants album. Its not a cookie cutter pop album. Its unique and its truly Sanjaya Malakar!!! Good job Sanjaya!!! Great Album!!!

Sanjaya you are so amazingly talented and have such an incredible voice! Our staff LOVES your CD; it's totally RAD & Rockin' because you are one spirit-filled dude. Although each one of your songs on the CD is unique and totally awesome, Track 1, 'A Guy Like Me,' is beyond extraordinarily insightful and Track 3 'A Quintessential Lullaby' is Jammi'n Crazy! Your so 'tuned-in' to the surroundings of others, their emotions and know yourself so well that it's easy for you to combine your voice, a God-Given-Raw Natural Talent, with the inner-depth perception of your own soulfulness in making an unequivocal connection into the souls and lives of total strangers...embracing personal things people feel and think but may not speak. This accomplishment is one of the highest and most difficult goals an artist tries to master and can potentially take years of training and experience in all facets of life. It's one many never even come close to obtaining and you've done it easily, naturally and with great humbleness. With such an impending promise of songs that you will be delivering in the future, it's something we all look forward to relishing. Your book is also a great inspiration and gives a phenomenal insight of the journey into American Idol, during and after the experience and so much more. Bottom line, the strength you have so well garnished to be cherished forever will be the praise and words of wisdom from amazing world-renowned music artists like Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and many others and certainly not from couch-critiques...so, how many times can you say BOOYAH?!
